We had installation of an inground pool years ago by Yorktown and just had a new liner placed this season by them. We also always have them open and close our pool every season. Excellent customer service as always! Robin and Rob are simply the best! Highly recommend!

Took them four attempts to change my liner in my above ground pool. They burnt my yard laying my winter cover on the grass all day. I lost multiple loads of water. They left my shed doors open and left my property. The communication was horrible. They installed the wrong size liner twice. Both times it collapsed. Sand was blown into my yard and the walls of the pool were compromised. Chemicals and water were wasted. I lost several weeks of swimming during the biggest heat wave of summer 2025. To top it all off when I was finally able to speak to the owner, he laughed at me twice during my explanation of my experience. Needless to say I’ve moved onto another company. Many people have had good experiences here, but my story was a horrible experience.

We have moved and did not use them recently, however, in the past for many years we used them, and they were professional, friendly, knowledgeable, fairly priced, and available quickly. Pools are fun, provide exercise and total family enjoyment, except when they don't. Yorktown Pools and Spas were always ready to solve stress and aggravation caused by a pool that was having issues. Thank you for always being there to relieve the problem and the associated stress and to provide us with a "Whew, glad we use Yorktown.
Frequently Asked Questions About Yorktown Pools & Spas
Do I need to clean my mesh winter cover?
Usually not. If there is a large amount of debris on the cover (usually caused by ducks or geese in the area), it may be necessary to rinse the cover off. However, usually, the cover is free of large amounts of debris. Just roll the cover up and let it dry before storing it for the summer. Also, store the cover in a place where mice and ants cannot make a summer home out of it, or you might end up with chewed holes!
How do I care for and store my robot cleaner?
Consider the following:
1. Most robotic cleaners have a one-hour and three-hour setting. The one-hour setting will run for one hour and clean only the bottom of the pool. The three-hour setting will run that amount of time and will clean the bottom and the walls.
2. The robotic cleaner is not designed to run on an extension cord. It is not recommended, but if you must use an extension cord, make sure the cord is as heavy-duty as possible and as short as possible.
3. After each time the clean is used, the cord must be disconnected from the power supply and unraveled to prevent kinking and damage. Simply disconnect and walk the cord away from the robotic cleaner and let it spin out any twists.
4. The bag on the robotic cleaner should be removed and hosed off after each cleaning. If the bag is very dirty, it can be put in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with detergent, then put back on the robotic cleaner to dry.
5. Do not drag or roll the robotic cleaner over on the pool deck. And scuffs or jagged edges on a cleaner can cut and damage liners. Inspect the robot often for any sharp or jagged edges!
6. At the end of the season, it is required that the robotic cleaner, cord, and power supply be brought inside a warm garage or house for winter storage. FREEZING WILL DAMAGE THE ROBOTIC CLEANER!
All questions and concerns can usually be answered at www.smartpool.com, which has some videos and manuals for your cleaner. If not, please call Yorktown Pools & Spas.
Why do I need to shock my swimming pool?
Pool water composition always includes some undesirable elements that actually contaminate the water and reduce the efficiency of the sanitizer. Material such as hair spray, suntan oil, cosmetics, perspiration, and other organic materials react to combine with the chlorine in the water to form “combined chlorine.”
Once “combined chlorine” forms, it acts as a very poor disinfectant, contributing to eye and skin irritations and the forming of an unpleasant chlorine odor. Swimming pools with this problem are often inaccurately accused of having too much chlorine. Routine shock treatment is necessary to destroy combined chlorine compounds and restore the chlorine sanitizer to “free chlorine” efficiency. A swimming pool can be shock treated by adding large doses of chlorine, commonly referred to as super chlorination.
Why is filtration important to the quality of swimming pool water?
Filtration is the mechanical system for removing visible matter from the water. The filter is designed to remove hair, dirt, minute skin flakes, metal or calcium precipitates, and other visible debris that would otherwise cause the swimming pool water to be hazy and cloudy.
How do I know when it’s time to clean my swimming pool filter?
Normal, periodic rinsing or backwashing will remove most of the dirt from a basically clean filter. However, over a period of time, grease, oils, and scale can attack and build up on the sand. When this occurs, you will notice build-up, short filter runs, reduced circulation, and swimming pool water that does not want to clear up. We recommend mid-season and end-of-season cleaning.
