At the age of 78, I begin to review my life and some of the highlights certainly was Camp MacLean in Wisconsin. My mom insisted on my enrolling in swimming class at the Lakeview Y since up to that point I merely splashed about being somewhat frightened of Lake Michigan water. This experience at the YMCA led to a summer job as counselor in training by the time I was a sophomore at Lane Tech in the summer of 1963-64. I ended up learning and then teaching archery, canoeing and sailing while a counselor in training " CIT". To this day I remember fondly Rusty and Frank, tall, strong and a great role model for a bunch of Chicago boys. They opened my boyhood eyes of outdoor adventures to seek and explore. And while I didn't learn to SCUBA dive at the Y, my comfort in water led me to depths not imagined as a kid at Lane Tech.

Went during winter with my school, it was just a bunch of adults trying to wave liability wasn't fun.
