This review is for the Wenatchee branch. I haven’t been a customer very long, and this is the second time I have opened accounts and closed them. My account had been inactive for 3 months and it was costing Wheatland money to keep it open compared to the low balance. I primarily bank elsewhere in town, and decided that I would go in and close the account. When I arrived at the branch, there were no other customers there, and there were 2 tellers who appeared to be doing nothing, who told me they couldn’t help me because they were “new.” The manager was not there and would be returning in 30 minutes, so I left and went back. At that time, she was there and helped me, but I was told that I was supposed to have made an appointment. I have never heard of a bank doing that before, and the tellers should be trained in how to close an account. I’ve been to that branch many times and they are never busy, so it wasn’t an issue of not having enough time to help me. That was a lot of hoop jumping for something so simple. The things that caused me to leave Wheatland permanently have been related to customer service and convenience, such as the ATM not set up to take deposits, which has been going on for months, and no Saturday service, which is offered by other local banks. Wheatland was recommended to me by a friend who lives in a nearby town, and maybe it’s different where she banks, but it just didn’t work very well for me.
