Worst Hotel Experience Ever — Stay Away!
I came to New York especially to run the NYC Marathon and stayed at this hotel, which was actually quite expensive, booked through a travel agency that specializes in marathon trips around the world (they have nothing to do with this mess).
Before 5 p.m., I reported that the door to my room was damaged — the hinge broke when I tried to open it. I told the front desk right away. They said someone would come to fix it, but no one ever did. I went downstairs to talk to the front desk again; the girl there promised they would send maintenance — still, nothing happened. Later they claimed they couldn’t reach me because they didn’t have my contact information… really? But they did have all my details when they charged me a $400 deposit “in case something gets damaged.” What a joke.
We came back around 11 p.m., and the door was still broken. When I called again, they said they would move us to another room. My 5-year-old daughter was already asleep, so I had to pack everything myself. No one offered to help with the luggage — three suitcases and a stroller. Not a single person. Once we finally got to the new room, they took over 30 minutes to bring the extra bed for my daughter.
I went down again to talk to the manager and the front desk staff working that night. The treatment I received was absolutely terrible — rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. The manager was polite in words but did nothing to actually fix the situation.
Honestly, this was the worst service I have ever experienced in a hotel that supposedly has “diamond” ratings and charges these prices. The cost does not match the quality at all — ZERO customer service, ZERO empathy, ZERO professionalism.
Never again. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Great hotel - location is perfect, rooms were clean and cleaned/replenished everyday, we didn't come across a member of staff who wasn't friendly, they were all very welcoming. The rooms were a great size and the city view was lovely. We would definitely return.
The only niggle we had was having to pay to store your luggage when needing to leave it at the hotel following check and the lift wait could take a while in the mornings when everyone was going out.
Hotel with no exceptional things. Most rural motels has more services than this one.
In the hotel room only one light switch was working. Heating with old fashioned A/C.
Windows are totally sound transparent you sleep in the middle of Manhattan like with open window, its terrible! Doors also like made from paper.
Charging almost 30$ per day for terrible WIFI obligatory. Luggage storage 2$ per unit, never seen this ever before!!
No response to problems via email before arrival.
But when you have perfect location in Manhattan you can do what ever you want and charge 500$ per night.

Well.. I started at wanting to give them 3 stars but it kept getting worse and worse and worse.
Let me start from saying we paid quite a lot for this hotel. Not much cheaper than all nearby ones.
First of all when we check in the lady was not friendly, which is OK no big deal.
We get the keys before check in time which was amazing and I really appreciate them doing that.
We walk in and our room is completely dark and facing a brick wall. Which I later found out that a lot of standard rooms are.
Quickly went downstairs and was able to switch the room. Yay! The other lady was very nice about it. Unfortunately, wasn’t able to get a double bed so my friend and I just settled for one queen bed.
The room was clean no issues there but we didn’t even have a shampoo.. I mean, I’ve been to hotels that don’t have a conditioner or a lotion but the hair shampoo is kind of mandatory.
Later, we realized that they just forgot to put it in. And I’ve heard we were not the only case like that. So rooms are not being carefully prepared.
We call around 9 pm to request some tea brought to our room, which we are quickly told that the housekeeping staff has left for the night so that’s a no.
We were never given tea. We did request it the next day along with a few more things like shampoo and shower caps. All of that was brought to us while we were gone, except the tea. Later, we found out that the only tea they have is for a Keurig machine. And we did not have one in our room.. we had a regular coffee machine. Which actually made decent coffee can’t complain there.
I understand that the hotel is old but they can easily make up for that in customer service. But the customer service was not good. Even the housekeeping staff was shockingly mean.
But the most annoying part that they charge $2 per bag to hold your bags! Cash.. they don’t accept any other type of payment.
I have never heard of a hotel that does that! Never!
The bag situation was cherry on the cake so we wanted to speak with the manager. After about 10 minutes of waiting, the manager came downstairs to talk to us. We told him about all the frustrations we’ve had with the hotel so far and the very last frustration is that they charge for the bag .. cash. We didn’t have any cash on us.
It’s not about the money clearly but this charge should be optional. And always is every single hotel I’ve ever been to. Even cheap ones. You’re forcing people to pay that and in cash… not everyone has cash on them. The staff was waiting for us to figure out the situation how to get them cash!
So we explain our frustrations to the manager, he’s not willing to do anything and being very mean. Absolutely not helpful but the opposite.
My response is OK sir. You are getting a 2 star review. His response is: “ alright”.
Well, here is my 2 star review as promised.
