Walt and his staff are first class. They are very knowledgeable and know their specialty. I highly recommend them for elder law issues.

Hands down it's the friendliest law office I've ever dealt with. When you're having struggles with loved ones and nursing care these are the people to see. Years and years of experience! I didn't have to pay for a consult either.

Attorney Shurden has no people skills and this was a waste of $300.00 He comes across as rude and does not like to repeat himself. The information he provided was not appropriate at the time. If you need someone that is compassionate about your situation during this difficult time of long term care for your elder Walt is not the place to find it.

Two years ago my brother and I consulted with Mr. Shurden concerning an issue with our mother. that went well and we were very happy with the professionalism and service provided. So last week when I was in need of additional legal help for my mother I again contacted Mr. Shurden's office and made an appointment for this week. I took the morning off from work and made sure I left in plenty of time to pick up my mother from her ALF and have her in his office in time for our scheduled appointment at 9. We arrived almost 10 minutes early in Mr. Shurden's waiting room which seems to be isolated from the rest of the office. I rang the bell that's left sitting out and his admin person came out to greet us. I let her know we were there for a 9am appointment with Mr. Shurden. She seemed a little surprised to see us but told us to have a seat and she would let Mr. Shurden know we were there. After almost 25 minutes, 20 minutes into our scheduled appointment time, we were still waiting. Nobody came out to explain anything or let us know why we were not meeting Mr. Shurden as scheduled at 9. At that point my Mom and I decided this was not the attorney we wanted and we got up and left. I know from previous experience that Mr. Shurden is a competent attorney and was professional in his previous dealings with us. However in today's society it seems very common that we, as customers, are expected to respect somebody's time when we make an appointment. Frequently we do not get the same courtesy in return. That may not be what happened here but I got the distinct impression that we were somehow forgotten on this particular morning. I did get a call from the admin assistant shortly after we left Mr. Shurden's office. It wasn't clear to me why we were left waiting and she seemed taken aback that we had walked out. From my perspective this appointment was no small investment; taking off of work for the morning and getting my 82 year old mother from the ALF to an appointment (she uses a walker and is in great pain getting in and out of a car). I gave Mom and myself over an hour to make sure we were on time. Because we had an appointment and arriving late is not an option (I'm also retired military so the on time thing is ingrained). I want a lawyer that believes our time is just as valuable as his. So we voted with our feet and I'm now looking for a different elder law attorney.
