Vi at The Glen, a Life Plan Community also known as a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) is located in Glenview, Illinois. Our independent and assisted living community is part of a 1,000-acre master-planned community in the North Shore, featuring a wide variety of distinctive amenities. I looked at several senior living communities around Chicago when I was considering this move and this one really stood out for its beauty, integrated setting in the community, thoughtful exterior and interior design, and all the amenities it offers. I knew I only wanted to move once more in my life and have everything I might need be available there for the future. Ended up moving here to the Vi in August 2025 and it is even better than expected. I love the strong sense of community it provides with other residents, who have been incredibly welcoming and friendly. And the Vi's Staff are amazing! By Day 2 they all somehow knew my name and were proactively ready to help in any way they could. The facilities and grounds here are beautiful and very well-maintained. There is a wide variety of beautiful and spacious 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and villas to choose from with some that also include a roomy den. And every apartment or villa offers either an outdoor patio or balcony. With all the programs, interest groups, and exercise offerings, there are always things to get involved in. And I appreciate their 24 hour onsite valet parking and concierge services, expert computer/IT help, onsite Wellness Center, pool, exercise facilities, salon and spa. They also have an outstanding, highly rated Care Center that provides higher levels of care and compassion for those needing Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Skilled Nursing care if and when anyone needs it. And let me also call out the outstanding food served in their dining rooms (including a choice of 4 different venues). They do a great job with their culinary programs. Living here at the Vi has taken away all the stressors in my old life and provided more access to those things that bring me joy! No more worries or expenses of maintaining a house and yard and wishing for easier ways to meet people and engage in activities. It's all right here with a wide variety of choices every day. And we can still maintain all our outside friendships and favorite activities too. If you are considering such a move, you should visit the Vi. You will be amazed!

Introductions, orientations, special gatherings all add to the "at home" ambience. The amenities are top-notch, the residents and the activities are varied, interesting and fun, the food delicious, and the health care plan excellent. It's a lovely place to live!

What is a Life Plan Community/CCRC?
A Life Plan Community, also known as a continuing care retirement community or “CCRC” offers residents a combination of housing, dining, and certain amenities and health care services in return for a monthly fee and an entrance fee. Residents do not purchase their apartments. The entrance fee and monthly fees you pay give you the right to occupy an apartment for life and cover the services you receive while residing at the community, including the care services offered at the community’s care center.

What care does Vi at The Glen offer?
There are three basic types of continuing care contracts that a CCRC may offer, commonly known as Type A, Type B, and Type C.
A Type A contract provides the most comprehensive continuing care coverage. A Type A contract generally provides for transfer to any of the community’s care venues for an unlimited time at little or no additional cost beyond the monthly fee paid while residing in independent living (including any ongoing monthly fee increases applicable to such independent living unit) and the costs of ancillary supplies and additional meals.
A Type B contract typically includes a specific number of “free” days in the community’s care venues at the monthly fee rate paid by the resident for his/her independent living apartment. When those “free” days are exhausted, the resident begins to pay a market rate for care services. With this type of contract, the resident assumes some risk in terms of paying for services at an amount in excess of the monthly fee.
A Type C (or fee-for-service) contract does not include care services at the monthly fee rate or discounted rate. Residents receive priority admission to the community care venues, but must pay the market rate for care venue services. With this type of contract, the resident assumes the highest level of risk, as charges will vary depending upon the services needed.

Am I eligible to live at Vi at The Glen?
Each prospective resident completes an application for residency. The completed application will be reviewed by our Resident Evaluation Committee. Those applicants who do not meet the criteria for residency will not be accepted for residency with continuing care coverage.
