  I wanted to take a moment to write a personal review for Dr. Bernstein at the Woodbridge location — she is truly incredible. A few months ago, my husband and I adopted a cat we named Swoop. She had been living on the streets and, as we later learned, had likely been hit by a car before we found her. We knew the road ahead would be challenging, but we wanted to give her a chance at a safe, loving home. For a while, she was doing so well — exploring her new space, eating, and becoming more affectionate each day. Then, unexpectedly, everything changed. Swoop stopped eating, began rapidly losing weight, and within days, became too weak to walk. Things declined quickly, and we found ourselves faced with the reality that we might have to make an incredibly difficult decision. From the moment Dr. Bernstein walked into the room, she met me with empathy, understanding, and honesty. Despite me being a bumbling mess, she didn’t sugarcoat the situation, but also spoke with such compassion and respect — acknowledging both our love for Swoop and the painful crossroads we were standing at. As pet owners, we’d do anything to save our animals, but sometimes even endless effort and expense can’t change the outcome. I appreciated that Dr. Bernstein helped us understand that, and guided us through our options with such clarity and kindness. When it became clear that Swoop’s condition was too severe to wait for test results, Dr. Bernstein helped us find peace in our decision. She reminded us that we gave Swoop the best life we could — filled with comfort and love — despite the circumstances. I’m so grateful for Dr. Bernstein’s compassion, honesty, and care during one of the hardest experiences we’ve ever faced. She made an unbearable situation just a little more bearable, and I will always appreciate that.

  The staff and veterinarians are wonderful to work with. They care about the animals and are good at communicating treatment options. They are very understanding and supportive when an owner decides to end treatment and have a pet put down.

  I love this place. Immediately one knows they care about your pet as a family member. The surgical team is awesome!

  I just wanted to take the time to point out how great the staff is at this establishment. Everyone is extremely friendly and very helpful. I went there one day to ask for help on a matter that has nothing to do with pets. A staff member by the name of Natalia was so helpful to me and because of what she did it helped me to get what I needed to get completed, complete. As a business owner it’s hard to find people to take the leadership role or treat clients / non clients with care as if they were ownership. That’s what Natalia did for me. I came in for something that had nothing to do with their business and instead of saying no, she did what she had to do to help me. People like here are hard to find! The rest of the staff were equally as helpful and kind. I have dogs of my own and I would really consider start taking my pets there just because of the service and respect I was greeted with!! 5 STARS!!! 100%

  This place is a complete fraud! They are a money scam! They scam their patients out of thousands and thousands of dollars. They never treat the real issue. They just keep having you coming back over and over again, so they can get all of your money and they dont stop! It's like their objective is to make their patients homeless and go hungry because they care about their animals. They dont stop taking your money and calling you back, until you are broke! And then they just put your animal to sleep! The office staff finds it funny and likes this behavior. They are all in it together. They get mad when you ask for the Doctors business cards. The doctors on staff, never have a business card available?????? Go figure. The worst Dr of them all is Dr. Janet Blair-Wells. She does not want to do her job. She does the bare minimum and gets mad at the patient when they ask for specific services, that they are paying for!! She quits and refuses to give you services and you are a VCA Care Member!!! Then she has her office staff demean you and confront you infront of the entire hospital and refuse to help your animal! They ask you to leave and your animal is in critical ill!!! She talks in circles and so fast that you can't comprehend what she is saying. When you ask her to reiterate she gets frustrated and just walks away. It's like you are worth 1 minutes of her time and thats it! You are not worth a minute more!!!!!! She talks in riddles so you dont know what you are paying and they dont know what they are administering!!!!!! They also sell you a care plan that covers office visits because you are in there every month for the same issue, that was never addressed in the first place! When you try to use the benefits that you pay for, you can't! The adult care plan covers urinalysis, heartworm testing, fecal tests, kidney tests, blood work and etc but you can't get those services under your care plan, if the animal is sick, or its a "sick visit"!!!!! Who in their right mind would take their pet in there for tests like that if they are not sick??? Then they make it where you can't cancel the plan!!!! If you do, you have to pay them $199. Then they dont want to honor the VCA Care Membership if you did not start your plan at that VCA office!!!!! It is a complete scam!!!!!!!!! Do not take your pets here unless you want to put them to sleep!!!! They will rob you blind!!!! And the office finds it funny! They keep taking and taking all of your money, until you have nothing and the Drs. make well over a $100k per year in their earnings!!!!!! They dont stop until you put your animal to sleep!!! So you can rack up thousands and thousands of dollars worth of testing, treatment and etc but they dont treat the real issue and after spending whatever money you have, the final treatment is euthanisia for $100+ dollars!!!!!! VCA Southpaws is no better. They are a completed scam too! Oh and if you try to contact VCA headquarters- there is no headquarters!!!!!! There is no way to contact them because these hospitals are independly owned!!!!! Thats why they keep stealing your money!!! Because they get all of the proceeds!!!!!! TOTAL SCAM AND HEARTLESS!
