Long time customer. I moved states now and I miss them. They helped me take care of two of my pups for years.

Grab a seat (and a box of tissues) — you’re about to become a loyal customer.
I had never been to VCA Cabrera before. I’m new to the Gables area, but a longtime Miami resident. My 11-year-old English bulldog, Olaf, had always been incredibly healthy for his age — until the unthinkable happened.
During our morning walk, he suddenly collapsed. He was struggling to breathe and losing color fast. I rushed him to the nearest hospital — VCA Cabrera — in full panic mode, sobbing and terrified.
The second I ran inside for help, the receptionist jumped up, and within seconds the entire team came running out to carry my 65-lb bulldog inside and begin emergency treatment. They calmed me as I waited, showing such compassion and professionalism through every moment of chaos. Dr. Mark and his team stabilized Olaf, explained everything clearly, and helped me transfer him later that day to a 24-hour hospital for monitoring. By the time we left, Olaf was alert again — his sweet, normal self. It was the last moment we shared when everything felt okay.
The next morning, Olaf passed away. Dr. Mark personally called to check in that Monday. When I told him the news, he grieved with me. Two weeks later, I received a handwritten card signed by the entire VCA Cabrera team — every staff member had contributed, sharing messages of kindness and sympathy. I had only been there once, under emergency circumstances, and yet they made me feel like family.
Don’t think twice — bring your pets here. Vet hospitals may offer similar services, but few are filled with people who truly care the way this team does.
Thank you, Dr. Mark and the entire VCA Cabrera staff, for treating Olaf — and me — with such love and humanity. I will never forget it.

I went to VCA Cabrera Animal Hospital (6390 S.W. 8th Street) and the experience was very frustrating. The last time I went, they made me wait over an hour to see my dog. Today I had another appointment, arrived just 10 minutes late, and they told me I would have to wait another hour to an hour and a half because of that. Unbelievable to treat customers this way, especially when we are paying and it’s not a free service. Very poor customer service and zero flexibility. I will not be coming back or recommending them.

I came in for an emergency visit with my dog, Ollie, and was immediately taken in without hesitation. The entire staff was incredibly kind, compassionate, and professional. They went above and beyond not only in caring for Ollie, but also in making me feel calm and supported during a stressful time. It’s clear they genuinely care about both pets and their owners. Ollie and I are so grateful we found this office
we won’t go anywhere else from now on!
I’ve been taking my baby T’Challa here since 2020 and my Boba since 2023. Dr. Valentin and the staff have been nothing but amazing with my babies. Dr. Valentin always does a thorough exam and tells me everything include things don’t affect them in their quality of life such as a small chip in one of their teeth. They are always so kind to them and take their time to answer my questions or just to talk. While my cats are well behaved, I can tell they are quick at things such as taking blood or their temperature. I feel so grateful to know that they are in good hands.
