  My wife and I highly recommend Van Guilder contracting. When our home went out for bids (5 bids) from our architect, he was the only contractor who bid on it and our architect said he only uses Van Guilder for all of his work, so he told us not to worry that he was the only bidder. I can see why now. They are just finishing up our home and the whole process with them went smoothly. Jim's character is great. He's easy to talk to, very patient (doesn't push for decisions to be made), and a gentlemen whom I respect greatly after this process. His son, Jeremy, is just as great too who has earned our same respect. My dad, who is very knowledgeable in construction, noticed all the small details and took note of Van Guilder's great attention to detail (ie. lined up basement studs with the above floor trusses to make for a solid build of which VanGuilder did on his own accord). I went and measured some of the stud plates just to see how close they got it to the plan and all the measurements were right on. All in all, we're very glad that Van Guilder built our home.

  The homes VanGuilder Contracting has built speak for themselves. Impecable craftsmanship! The work these guys have done around Duluth over the years is very impressive. I've seen some of their remodels too, and it's hard to believe it was the same house after they're finished.
