The inside window attendants are so rude. They will literally see you standing, waiting to be serviced and say nothing. SMH. This occurs TOO OFTEN! They all need to be fired and new, courteous people hired.

Get a load of this.... So I have a mortgage with this company. Never really had any issues or problems. Until this current month, when a mortgage payment was kicked back. Allow me to explain in detail. I use the US Federal Credit Union app to initiate an external loan payment from my personal checking account and never have any issues. Typically I'll initiate payment, and the money doesn't come out of my account for a couple of business days. This is normal as I pay all of my bills online this way and never have issues. This time, however, I did not have enough money in my account to cover the total, but I figured it wasn't a problem because I was getting paid the very next day and the money would be in my account. For some reason, the payment came out that very same day which is completely unheard of. My bank obviously kicked it back after a day because it overdrew my account. Fair enough, that's certainly not US Federal Credit Union's fault and I will ensure any bills I pay in the future have sufficient funds at that time to avoid this mistake again. This is not my complaint however, and is included for context. Once my bank kicked the payment back, I realized this was an issue and reached out to US Federal Credit Union and spoke with someone about the issue. The lady I initially spoke with was helpful, and said she saw the kicked back payment. I explained that I wanted to make sure I paid it, but I didn't see the amount still due on the US Federal phone app. She threw me for a loop when she said that it looked like I had made a double payment at some point in the past, and this payment wouldn't put me behind at all. I was surprised, and that should have been more of a red flag as I have never recalled paying twice in one month but that is what I was told by the lady from the office. So I thanked her and that was that. Until today, when I received a call from another lady from presumably the Merrillville branch who was a bit curt in the way she informed me that I was late with the payment. I attempted to explain the situation to her and even explained the aforementioned person I had spoken with and what they had said about a double payment. She told me that wasn't the case and that now I had a late free on top of being misinformed. When asked if I remembered the name of who I had spoken with, obviously I did not. And I also do not have the name of the lady I spoke with today as I don't remember it being provided. If it was then I apologize. I'm sure she probably didn't believe me and, in all fairness, I realize it might sound a little far fetched. However the truth remains, that now I have a late fee for a missed mortgage payment that I thought I was on top of but was clearly misinformed by whomever I initially spoke with a few weeks ago. This is the frustrating part as I have never been late with a mortgage payment in my life with either house I've owned. When I also explained that I had initiated the payment and it came out of my account on the same day, she replied with "well technology works fast these days" as if to insinuate that I'm not up to speed with the way things work in regards to making payments online. While I can certainly admit being wrong in a couple points here, my past and continued experience with making payments with essentially electronic checks is that they always take a couple of business days to clear. This has certainly been how it has occurred in the past months leading up to me paying my mortgage the exact same way using the external loan feature on the app. To further my case, I called back today and spoke with a different lady who was very helpful, and I acquired the full amount I needed to be current and initiated the payment today immediately. And guess what, it did NOT come out of my account today like it did earlier in June!! Shocker right? I may not know what transpired to make that happen but it is my fault for making a payment without money in the account at that point and time and I will learn from that mistake and not repeat it. That's on me. I didn't like being misinformed.

Very disappointed to find out you are closing your Gary Branch. Your locations are already scarcely placed and this is a very big inconvenience for many of your Lake County customers and all your customers that work at the Steel Mill and Railroads near this area. Many chose to open accounts with you based on your proximity to the mill and railroads. I didn't see any information regarding another Lake County location taking its place either. If there is not going to be one, we will, unfortunately, have to find a new bank. Very sad news.
