The holy Roman empire was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire, and I learned the hard way that the Urban Boutique Hotel in Greenville, SC, is neither urban (it is located along a 7-lane stroad adjacent to a gas station and storage facility), nor boutique (it is in no way fancy or quaint or cozy), nor a hotel (it is an aged motel with a paint job). The front desk figuratively shrugged and said, "there's nothing we can do," when the guests in the room above us spent an hour stomping around at bed time. After our fourth call to the front desk, we asked to switch rooms at 10 pm. They gave us a new room, but then 2 days after we checked out they also gave us a bill for $300 through booking.com (where we had made the reservation) because they claimed, wrongly and with no evidence, that we had brought a dog into a non-dog-friendly room and damaged it. Our dog was clearly visible in the lobby with us when we checked in and later changed rooms, and we had the receipt showing we paid the dog fee. The booking.com reviews reveal that fraudulent damages / security deposit charges is a frequent scam that the manager tries to pull. When we checked in, the towels were folded sloppily. We were told that the housekeeper often brings their small child to help, but to me this sounds like child labor. Newsmax was playing in the breakfast room. And the room smelled strongly from the glade plugin. Yuck.

We only stayed one night, it was ok, it wasn't dirty but it was snappy. The bathroom had been redone that wasn't bad. They had a cheap plastic material for a fake barn door. It didn't have a bottom rail so it made noise when you used it. The rug was dirty and the outside looked nasty . It was cheap so you get what you pay for. Oh there was one skimpy bar of soap so nothing to wash your hands with.

Don’t let the cutesy name fool you! This hotel was gross. It’s actually a motel so not sure how they got away with calling it a hotel either. On top of that the rooms either do not offer blackout blinds or ours was broken because anyone walking by could see into our room. I’m really hoping that the roaches were the only critters there and not bedbugs too! The area is also not very safe and even the uber driver was surprised when dropping us off and told us to be safe. Spend the money to go somewhere that isn’t infested.

We enjoyed our stay. 2 nights to go to a wedding. This place is very convenient. We were able to get everything we needed without even driving. There is a gas station beside the hotel that is like a general store with food and toiletries and more. There's are multiple restaurants right across the street. It was a short distance to the wedding and to the reception and to any stores we had to go to it's a really good location. Also about the hotel location it's really nice to go outside in the back there are beautiful trees and a disc golf park that you can look down on with a little river with little Bridges going over it in the woods. It's very pretty. We were shocked with how delicious the breakfast was. That really added to the value of the stay there. They had a big variety. Juice and coffee, fruit and yogurt, eggs sausage biscuits and sausage gravy that was really good. I also had other options like to make toast and then we're muffins and some other baked goods. Cereal and milk. They had two styles of waffle makers and it was really easy and fun to make our own waffles and they were really delicious. There is a nice pavilion to go sit under that's kind of in the back of the property where the trees are if you want to sit outside. The bathroom was updated and had a nice walk-in shower. The pillows were very comfortable and I have a bad neck so that was important. Yes, as others have stated the carpet left your feet kind of dirty if you took your shoes off but I have had that experience in just about any hotel so I don't find that uncommon. Any staff we encountered was very pleasant and friendly. At check-in, at breakfast, and the housekeeping all had great attitudes and smiling faces and we're very helpful and friendly. Our room was originally upstairs and they were very happy to change it to downstairs with no issues. If you need a place to stay with a very convenient location, a good breakfast, a comfortable bed and pillows, and a very nice and clean bathroom with pretty walk-in shower, and has a pretty view outside that you can walk over to, and helpful friendly staff. This place has all that covered. Oh, and parking right at your room. We parked directly across from our room which was only a few steps away so unloading was really easy.
