Under Canvas Zion is a unique and beautiful experience. About a 30 minute drive to the park, it’s not the most convenient place to stay, but it’s easily the most beautiful. We stayed in the star gazer tent and were lucky to have cloudless skies every night. Everyone was so helpful and the food was fantastic. There was live music every night we stayed and we loved the community spaces, board games, and activities planned. Weather is definitely a factor as the tents are not air tight. We stayed at the very end of October and our fire went out before morning so it was definitely chilly in the tent until we got the morning fire lit. However the bed had layers of covers so sleeping comfort was not at all an issue. Highly recommend.

The facilities are absolutely stunning. Expect high prices for the restaurant. The nearest town is a little bit of a drive but offers very minimum in terms of restaurants. To make this a five-star Plus at would be fabulous if it had a pool

We really enjoyed our stay at Under Canvas Zion. The tent was spacious, comfortable, and well thought out—much more than just “camping.” The shower was wonderfully hot, and little touches like that made the experience feel both rustic and comfortable. Pro-tip: if the nights are cold, get the hot water bottle! The team does an excellent job of creating a memorable outdoor experience while keeping it true to its setting. What stood out most to me was the incredible night sky, the quiet, and the peacefulness of the area. Even better, people actually talked to one another—it felt like a small community, not just ships passing in the night. If you come with the right expectations, you’ll find this is a very special way to experience the beauty of Zion.

One of the most disappointing (and overpriced) travel experiences we’ve ever had. The tent was miserably hot — and we’re native Floridians, so that says a lot. We were given three fans from the front desk, but they repeatedly shut off during the night, forcing us to get up with flashlights just to turn them back on. The “luxury amenities” advertised on the website were nowhere to be found. The shower chain would not stay engaged, so we had to shower with one hand while holding the chain with the other. When we asked about it, we were told this was “normal.” The bed situation was another disappointment: the tent we booked was supposed to include a king bed. Instead, it was two twins pushed together to "make" a king. Every time we moved or got up to restart the fans, the mattresses separated, leaving a large, uncomfortable gap. On top of that, there were sizeable openings in the floor near the head of the bed where anything could crawl in — not exactly reassuring after being told it was tarantula mating season. Even small comforts weren’t handled well. Both times we went to the lobby for coffee (in the evening and the following morning), it was stone cold. They made a fresh pot only after we pointed it out. The bed did not push back far enough into the clear piece of canvas that was built into the tent for stargazing, so we couldn't even lay normally in the bed and look up to see stars...we had to go outside for that, but our room was one of the closest to the lobby and outside restaurant seating area, and they didn't turn off the hanging string lights until about 10:30, so we still couldn't get a good view of the sky. We had to leave during the day just to find A/C and WiFi to check on our kids. When we returned in the evening, the tent was still unbearable, so we checked out and forfeited our second night. No one at the front desk asked why we were leaving or if anything could be done. It was painful to throw away over $500, but it simply wasn’t worth staying. The website oversells the experience and the property doesn’t deliver. For $1,100 total, we expected so much more. We had just stayed in a stargazing dome at Bryce Canyon that far exceeded expectations — understated online, but incredible in person. This was the complete opposite. Even the location was misleading. The website makes it sound like the property is right by Zion’s entrance. In reality, the official entrance is almost a 30 minute drive. We immediately went down the road to Wildflower Zion after checking out and had a completely different (and far better) experience — air conditioning, a pool, BBQ grill, and actual comfort — for $200 less per night. We will absolutely return to Zion National Park, but next time we’ll either stay at Wildflower Zion or at one of the adorable boutique hotels in Springdale. You still get gorgeous scenery there, plus restaurants and shops right outside the park — a far better experience for your money. Even the Fairfield Marriott across from Wildflower (12 minutes closer to Zion) would have been a better experience.
