We were on our way to another sushi place and it was closed. We decided to try Uchiko. Honestly, nothing but great things to say. Food was amazing. Vibe was right. But what made me want to leave a review was the service. Every person was amazing but serious shout out to our server Janelle for making our evening special.

This ended up being the most expensive meal I've ever had, well over $1,000 for 3 people. Fortunately, I wasn't paying. However, it was really amazing!
On the downside, the valet, which isn't run by Uchiko, was not a great experience. The valet took my phone number and said nothing else. I assumed it was it was my claim number. Unbeknownst to me, they used it to send me a text. I try not to check my phone while dining. However, even when I did, I didn't recognize the text as anything needing my attention. It was from "73958" and all I could see in my list of text was "146...". (see attached image) So, I didn't click on the message until I was at the valet stand trying to retrieve my car. I tried twice to tip through the link in the message, but they got a $0 tip twice. Somehow I requested my car, but never saw any indication that I had done so.
This was frustrating and a bit embarrassing, I'm a tech guy.

We love sushi! Houston has some great sushi places, but most recently Uchiko is my favorite. We were there a few months ago and ordered what we thought we wanted, and it was good. But we were there last night and asked the server to bring us what they thought would be great, and asked what types of fish we like. I am a control freak, so it's hard to trust someone else's opinion of what I would want to eat, but... WOW, it was amazing. So delicious.
I used to spend several hundred dollars per week because I liked their food. I became disenchanted to the fact that they persistently make you wait 20 to 30 minutes for a piece or two of nigiri (verified & confirmed with management who told me this is consistent with the concept of their business). Also, don’t expect anything less than awful service if you are a single diner. They prioritize service for those doing omakase so you will feel terrible by the time you leave if you don’t order many courses along with cocktails.
The bartender barely looked at me on Thursday, September 25, and was rude. He offered no thank you or anything proper when settling my check and did not even listen to me when he asked about my cocktail; he simply walked away. This place has garbage for staff at the bar.

✨ Majestic Dining at Uchiko ✨
Dining at Uchiko last night was nothing short of majestic. Every dish carried flavor notes so refined and harmonious that they felt truly transcendent, a rare balance of creativity and perfection on the palate.
Our server, Camille, elevated the entire experience. She was not only attentive and kind, but also deeply thoughtful in the way she guided us through the evening. Towards the end, we were surprised with three complimentary desserts, perhaps as a gesture for a slight delay in service, but more so, I believe, because of Camille’s genuine care and excellence.
From start to finish, each bite was layered with nuance and artistry. I can honestly say I’ve never had a meal so flawless, flavorful, and majestic in my life. Uchiko is not just a restaurant, it’s an experience worth savoring.
🍣 Dish Ratings 🍣
Spicy Crunchy Sake – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Out of this world, absolute must-have
Hama Chili (Yellowtail) – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exquisite and unforgettable. It was paired with oranges and lime and chilli, this was our first dish and I was just floored.
Hirame Amarillo – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another flawless masterpiece. This had subtle notes of curry but also mint. I can't event describe it. It has to be experienced.
Tiger Cry – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good, but slightly roasted to a borderline burnt flavor
Hot Rock – ⭐⭐⭐ Good, but I wouldn’t get it again, not because it was bad but everything else comparatively was so amazing that it over shadowed this dish.
Eggplant Tempura – ⭐⭐⭐ Good, but didn’t shine compared to the rest. But excellently done!
Dessert:
Milk & Cereal – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Playful yet refined, perfection. It wasn't too sweet or over powering..and I intially wasn't drawn to it but Camille said it's on the house, so we went ahead with it and omg, never had something so fun and delicious.
Berry Okashi – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Memorable, rich, and divine.
From start to finish, each bite was layered with nuance and artistry. I can honestly say I’ve never had a meal so flawless, flavorful, and, yes, majestic in my life. Uchiko is not just a restaurant, it’s an experience worth savoring.
