From my experiences people complain more than they praise. I am here to PRAISE! I purchased a retractable running board setup for the “Love of My Life’s” vehicle. A BMW X5 and to make matters worse a plug-in hybrid. This package was literally the only one that I could find for this car/SUV. I was dismissed by a handful of installation companies before I found Truck Outfitters. At the recommendation of a friend I found myself at their facility in West Bend. No kindling, I was dismissed be at least 4 different installers (most likely because I didn’t purchase the product from them…which was a problem, in that, only one manufacturer that ‘I could find’ makes the things) or they were too clueless to install them. I spoke to Jeremiah. He scheduled it. Said it would take 1/2 a day. Then Scott put ‘em on (with a little help from Jeremiah…who appears to be willing to he his hand dirty, but would prefer not to)! I truly thought this could “go south” in so many ways…and am Super glad to leave a positive review, because I’m very very happy with the work…THANKS GUYS!!!
I purchased a tonneau for my vehicle from Truck Outfitters in West Bend on Main Street in July 2025. Ashley and Jeremiah were easy and helpful to work with. The tonneau was ordered on a Monday and it was installed that Friday. The price was fair and the installation was professional and well-done. I recommend this family-owned business. They have earned my business and my respect and they will earn yours too.

Ordered an ARE Cap for installation at Truck Outfitters several months ago. The cap came in earlier than expected, and they were able to schedule me very soon. The quote came back with great detail, and they captured everything that I wanted. I had high hopes.
The installation of this truck cap is easily the worst "professional" installation I have witnessed. With a total parts/labor of nearly $9000, I expected to be satisfied with the install.
Truck cap was installed crooked, with a 1/2" gap in the main door when closed. We were told "that's just the way it is". I had additional wiring completed for emergency lights and an inverter. Wiring from the battery was unprotected and unsecured. It actually came out through the wheel well while driving home, and already had created damage to the wiring for the inverter. Inverter hot lug was not covered, and the bushing through the hole in the cap was partially falling out upon pickup.
The one special request that I had is that they use the factory headliner switch for the safety lights. They charged me for it, then called and said it couldn't be done. It's a lighted toggle switch. Super simple install. But instead they mounted a $2 lighted toggle under the dash that is completely inaccessible when the door is closed. It's hidden by the door trim when the door is closed. Useless, but a permanent hole in my dash nonetheless.
The grill lights installed were screwed to the plastic grill instead of mounting brackets. 6 holes in the front of the truck.
It took at least two attempts for them to drill the holes through the side rails to mount the cap because the first set were drilled in a position where they could not access the under portion of the rail. Total rookie move. It's like they had never installed a truck cap before. Not only were the extra holes not covered or capped, the drill shavings left behind brought even more light to the blunder immediately.
I had a cargo glide in the truck, and during installation they must have been laying or leveraging one side of the cargo slide and bent it to the point where the latch does not work anymore.
Extra holes everywhere, drill shavings not cleaned up, worst wiring job I've ever seen. I waited a while to cool down before writing this review, and I wanted to ensure that the disappointment I felt with the awful installation was not buyer's remorse for spending the money. It wasn't. Meanwhile, I had work performed on the truck that required removal of the truck cap. The guys at the body shop reinstalled the cap perfectly square. All doors work and latch properly. So apparently it's not "the way it is" and proper installation was completely attainable. And the body shop also fixed the absolute mess of wiring that Truck Outfitters left in the rear of the topper. The body shop fixed it. Not a "Truck Outfitter".
Avoid this place like the plague. Complete hacks. Awful experience.
I saw some negative reviews and ignored them as I know things sometimes happen and customers over react. Do not ignore them. After careful thought and consideration, I hope I save you the disappointment of trusting this company with your truck project.
The ARE Topper is nice, and I'm unsure if they get delivered to the installer assembled or not. But the ladder rack screws were put in crooked and over sunk and bent the rack. So I'm unsure if that is an ARE thing or a Truck Outfiters thing. Regardless of that, the installation that I know Truck Outfitters was responsible for was atrocious. Complete garbage. No - I did not contact the company prior to posting this review. I did not ask for a partial refund for services not performed (headliner switch connection). I did not inquire as to why the lights weren't sync'd, crooked, and brand new parts bent and a dozen unneeded holes were drilled into the truck. The lack of craftsmanship was enough for me to be more terrified of them trying to fix it than to fix it myself or pay for someone to fix it. Never again.

My truck cap was leaking. I took it in and truck outfitters fixed the problem quickly. Great customer service. Highly recommend.

I had a spay on bed liner applied. Virtually indestructible according to them. One month later I have chips, and Frank, the self proclaimed "most knowledgeable guy here" told me anyone with ANY common sense knows you can't put heavy things in a truck. They will charge a full price to redo it.
