I stopped by the Columbia, MD Trek store Oct 10 @ 6:30 PM to ask about e-MTBs that would fit me. I’m 6'0" and 255 lbs, and I was looking for something with a stronger motor to help with endurance on local trails. I spoke with a woman who said she owns a Trek Fuel. When I asked about motor power, she said it was “good enough for her on any of the local trails, so it should be good enough for me.” I pointed out that she mentioned weighing 120 lbs — less than half my weight — but she brushed it off. She also said the Powerfly was discontinued and would be impossible to order, which isn't true. Then she claimed the Rail wouldn’t be any faster or perform any better than the Fuel because it weighs 15 lbs more — completely ignoring that the Rail has a much stronger motor designed to offset that difference. She even said both bikes were Class 3 e-MTBs, when in reality they’re Class 1. When I asked for specific motor specs or if anyone in the shop knew about them, she got defensive and told me, “no one in this store memorizes specs,” and that I could “just look it up online.” By that point, the attitude and dismissiveness were hard to ignore. I came in ready to buy, but the lack of product knowledge and professionalism made this an easy decision to walk away. I really like Trek bikes, but this experience left a terrible impression.

I went in because I was failing at being a bike mechanic. Nick immediately asked how he could help, then proceeded to step-by-step walk me through how to fix the same issue next time. I asked for advice on some degreasing products and other bike related add-ons and he walked me through all of it. I was formerly a Race Pace customer for many years and now with the Trek shop I feel the same level of awesomeness exudes. High-five to Nick for being uber helpful! Thank you!

Have only great things to say about this shop. The guys in the back were super helpful and worked with me to get back on my bike ASAP after my derailleur was trashed on the trail. They were also happy to give advice on stuff I was attempting to DIY. Felt guilty not being charged a consultation fee, so I loaded up on parts and merch instead =) win/win. Great clearance selection to boot as one of a small number of trek clearance centers in the US.
