The owner Rebekah is the most unprofessional person I’ve observed. She advertises that her pastries are “woman owned and baked” when in reality they are from Costco. The quality of her products is subpar, with microwaved frozen egg patties and meat for breakfast sandwiches, and inconsistency in coffee products.
The cleanliness of this establishment is horrific, and there is a ton of junk everywhere. On the counters, in the back, on top of the office, and in the extra room. The bathrooms and floors are filthy, sticky, and grimy.
Her attitude toward her staff is very rude, and her lack of transparency on how tips are divided up is sketchy, and wages often don’t add up. Rebekah has unrealistic standards in her employees when the lack of a proper training from her end is responsible for the problems they face. She also believes that her employees are “plotting” on her, and is paranoid and doesn’t trust her employees. In turn, her employee retention is akin to a revolving door. Her poor leadership and decision making have become the downfall of this business.
In the end, I believe in supporting a small business and want them to succeed. But from the many sources that have reported this to me as a journalist, this small business is sketchy, dishonest, and amoral. Do yourself a favor and support the many coffee shops in Kent that provide better consistency and quality in their products!
Coffee was really good, food was pretty good, our table was a little dirty and the chairs were sparse. A little pricey for a college student no doubt. All in all, neat little joint. I love downtown Kent.

I drove 2 hours for this and wanted it to be amazing.. The atmosphere and service were incredible.. I could hang out here forever.. the coffee was on par.. not incredible.. the pastries.. not good.. like had to force myself to finish the cinnamon roll and muffin
Ordered a hot chocolate and they forgot the chocolate. Literally gave me a cup of basically steamed milk. Now that classes are back in session their service and quality has gone through the floor. I would avoid this place until the semester is over and maybe they can get their act together again.
One of the worst business owners I have ever encountered in my life. The reviews about the owner yelling at employees or being rude to them behind the bar are very true and it’s even worse behind the scenes. I could go on for hours but I’ll name just a few major things.
Don’t go here unless you want to support a business owner who calls every single one of her employees lazy because of one training inconsistency. Training is her job as the owner of a small business but she deflects her incompetence on her employees. This happened on multiple occasions.
Cutting hours to “save” on labor, leading to short staffing if there’s any sort of rush (aka more $$ in the owners pocket), lack of transparency about how tips are split (talks in circles until you’re tired of listening to her), pays less than minimum wage and expects maximum effort, yet somehow doesn’t recognize her employees for their efforts, etc etc etc— it’s sad.
She uses the cheapest possible avenue for her offerings. Costco pastries (not the majority, but some things that could easily be sourced by the other businesses she buys from), Costco milks (not even the barista blend that’s standard almost everywhere else), the cheapest matcha, 2% milk being the standard for lattes instead of whole… the cheapest everything. She doesn’t care about the quality of product she’s pushing out, which is extremely obvious when you realize 90% of her staff doesn’t know how to dial in the espresso machine, let alone how that reflects in the shots.
If you’ve ever encountered an employee here who seems confused about the menu, training inconsistencies, or price inconsistencies— just know it started at the top. Trying to get a straightforward, consistent answer out of her, about her own policies and procedures that she created, is like pulling teeth.
This is just one person revealing the realities of everyone who’s worked here since the new owner took over. People deserve to know what kind of business owner they’re supporting.
EDIT: someone reported my review and had it hidden. What a gem.
