As always, Travers Plumbing did not disappoint. I have a fairly new bathroom faucet and the cold knob is slipping. They went right to the problem and pointed out that the less expensive Kohlers have a plastic part that breaks. Fixed it for the time being They’ll find a similarly designed piece that has better guts. 10 minutes. Travers saved my neighbor about $2 K when another plumber wanted to tear apart a leaking shower upstairs. Travers found the plate was installed wrong. Only the cost of a service call. This folks at company are honest.

I hired Travers Plumbing & Heating to install a whole house water filtration system. They said they would charge hourly. Because they had no way of knowing how many hours it would be they would take the credit card info beforehand to put a hold on the Credit Card and then once the job was complete, they would release the hold and charge the correct amount. They sent two guys which I wasn’t expecting, one of which just stood outside the mechanical room the entire time. They worked Thursday and Friday but had not completed the job yet so I expected them to return Monday. Over the weekend I happened to look at my credit card and saw that there were seven unauthorized charges by Travers all for different random amounts. Luckily three of those charges had been declined, but the four that got through totaled around $9000. On Monday morning they didn’t show so I called to inquire. The secretary confirmed that they were not done with the job and would need to come back. I informed her that there must be something wrong with the credit card machine as I had already been charged several times before the job was completed. She said there was no mistake. Even if the agreement was to charge me after each day, there should only be maximum two charges after two days of work. They returned and worked a half day but still did not complete the job and left without any explanation. I then facetimed with the water filtration system’s manufacturer to try to get a sense of how much work was left. The manufacturer determined that the filtration system had not only been installed backwards, but the two tanks were reversed – they had put the carbon and resin in the wrong tanks. The manufacturer warned me not to turn the machines on – they would need to be removed, cleaned out, and reinstalled in the correct positions and with new carbon and resin. I called Travers to tell them not to return. My dad and I (two people with zero plumbing experience) uninstalled and reinstalled the system with the manufacturer on facetime in about 3 hours, so the fact that two licensed plumbers couldn’t do the same is remarkable. I only received invoices for the two and a half days they worked AFTER I had filed a dispute with the credit card company and told Travers not to return. The totals did not correspond to the charges on my credit card and there was no itemization to distinguish total hours worked from cost of materials. Doing the math for the hours they worked (based on my security camera footage) gets me to around $5000. They charge for travel time but they are only 7 minutes from me so that could not have impacted the price much. When pressed to account for the other $4000 Gary said he is not legally obligated to account for the materials he’s charging me for. Perhaps his next customer will require *one million dollars* in materials – and there will be nothing they can do about it. I have disputed the charges with the credit card company, and as a result Gary has threatened to put a lien on my house. So, to sum up: poor workmanship, poor business practices, poor attitudes.

Updated: In response to the owner’s reply: this only reinforces the problem. Instead of taking responsibility, he argues with customers and dismisses their concerns. Professionalism means completing the job properly, providing transparent, itemized invoices, and listening to feedback—not debating every negative review. If they are so concerned with their reputation, I strongly suggest they update business practices, train staff in customer service, and stop framing discounts as “doing customers a favor” when customers are dissatisfied and they can’t provide proof of billing. Being called to assist with old pipes does not excuse an incomplete job, a 60% mark up for parts, using cut and deteriorating parts (we provided pictures) or poor customer service. I appreciate them working with us so we didn’t have to escalate further. Original Post: We hired Travers because of their positive reviews, but our experience was awful. They charge for travel time, including going back to get supplies and though they review all the billing up front, after three hours we are left with our faucet still dripping underneath!! He left without sufficiently checking, left boxes behind, and didn’t put the faucet stopper back - clearly in a rush to the next job. We wasted the entire day chasing them for answers. No one ever called us back and we had to keep calling, only to be told they couldn’t return until after the holiday, on a day we could not be available as we did not anticipate the job not being done properly. We’re now stuck with an incomplete job, a hefty deposit charged to our credit card, and no clear timeline for resolution. When I voiced frustration, the receptionist (Erika) dismissively told me it was “not their fault” and that we needed to be flexible. That’s just unacceptable! No apologies or responsibility taken. If the job had been done right the first time, we wouldn’t be left with this mess (literally). Extremely unprofessional, unreliable, and disappointing. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere - now we have to! Would not recommend Traverse Plumbing

Please learn from my mistake: Travers’ repairman arrived at 11:30 and assessed the situation. He told me I needed a new kitchen faucet. I SHOULD have said, “Thank you,” ended the call, bought a faucet and scheduled an installation. Instead, I allowed myself to be convinced that he could locate one for me and install it that day. Yes. My mistake. At 12:40, they texted me a picture of the faucet he had located, which I decided against. I received a bill for $418.36. Note: No materials of any kind were used for this call. When I asked for an itemization/explanation of the bill, I was told, “You were told that travel costs were included.” Yes, I was. And that their charge was $175.00 per hour. So I asked them to provide details as to his time of departure to come to my house, and any time that accrued after the text exchange at 12:40, as I could not think how that would have exceeded 2 hours. They did not do so. When I followed up a final time, I was told they would credit me one hour toward the faucet installation. I am certainly not going to give them the chance to bilk me again. This is the first time I have ever written a Google review – that is how strongly I want to help others from not falling into this same situation. Look for an alternate plumbing service, because you really don’t know what you’re contracting for Travers to charge you. See their Facebook reviews for similar stories.
