I usually would only go into this UPS store for Amazon returns during the week. However, I have been frequently visiting this store more recently to ship out auto parts that I have been selling on Facebook Marketplace and it’s usually during the week. Sometimes, it is extremely difficult to locate a box that an item fits in, but I like to recycle boxes when I can. I haven’t had a problem with UPS shipping my items up until recently, 8/30/25. I scrambled to find a box to ship a glove box and shifter knob to a guy in New York. Trying to make the cut off time of 330pm, store closing, I packaged the items nicely, padding the item and taping up the box. I made it to the Sinking Spring store with an hour to spare only to be turned down for shipment of my package. The young lady at the register asked me politely if I would like to put my box in another box. She insisted I pay for a UPS store shipping box. I said that I did not want to add $5 to the cost of shipping as I try to keep shipping costs as low as possible for customers. As the the young lady pried her fingers at the edges and tape of my nicely taped up box, she smiled and said, “it’s going to cost a little more than $5 for a shipping box. Without it, we are not allowed to ship your package. We can’t ship manufacturer boxes.” She said, “this box will fall apart in shipping.” Since when? A box is a box. I order Amazon like every day is Christmas and from here on out, Staples will be getting my return package business. Now that my business is picking up, shipping out auto parts, I will be frequenting FedEx who didn’t have a problem shipping out my manufacturer box on 8/30/25, which is where I went when I left UPS store in Sinking Spring, PA. I may not make a dent in their revenue, but UPS store in Sinking Spring has definitely lost my business. All because they wanted to sell me an overpriced box. Great job!, UPS weekend staff! PS.. FedEx Office store shipping is cheaper and provides the same service UPS does!
