We've stayed at The Tides Inn twice now and it's a lovely place to spend some time with the family! The clientele seems to trend more mature but if you are there with kids it is still very family friendly for the families who prefer a little slower pace.
Check In: Amy was lovely! It was very easy to register, Amy gave my kid a complementary stuffy that he IMMEDIATELY attached to and it was so cute to see him take it everywhere for the remainder of the stay. The lobby is clean and well organized. The restrooms are clean and easy to access and they have a family friendly restroom as well.
Recreation: There is a chess board front and center in front of a gorgeous wall of windows to look out at the property. Inside the lobby they have games that you can play, borrow, take to your room etc. The lawn games are also great for a kid when you don't want to be in the pool. The pool is wonderful! No lifeguard on duty so swim at your own risk. The pool attendants are very on it and make sure to keep us hydrated and help if anything is needed. There are bikes that you can borrow on site, including a trailer for kids who might not be able to ride themselves. My kid had a blast being trailered around. We also love the things available to borrow like the paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes, all included with the resort fee.
In the Room: With it being an older establishment, the structures can be a little dated, however the amenities are still great. The bathrooms are spacious and clean, the beds are very comfortable, and we chose a room with a balcony and it was great to see the water and get some easy fresh air. The TV options are a little limited, however they did have the option to connect with google cast which allowed us to use our own streaming or play YouTube for in room entertainment.
Food: We checked in on a Sunday which was a little tricky for dining options in town but we made it work! After the last stay I felt that it was important that I brought our own snack options for the kid, and a lot of fresh food for us. I will say that I think he lack of fresh food (think freshly cut apples, oranges, fruits etc, even simple salads) is lacking so I make sure to bring some fresh food that I know I'd like. It's rough to live off chicken tenders and fries. The bars inside are fully stocked and Dean makes great drinks. The breakfast is nice too, the biscuit is perfect, and the waffles are great. Some of their options come off as trying to hard but not hitting the mark but if you stick with the basics they do good. Also the head waiter could win a Travis Kelce lookalike contest so that was a fun surprise. Also, if you want to eat in town, they will drive you and pick you up to certain restaurants, they have a list up front of where they go. I thought that was a wonderful feature.
Overall, as a family who prefers a quieter experience, but still lots of pool time and play time, this is a great location. We heard they're doing some remodeling to their older structures and I'm excited to see how those turn out. We're excited to come back next summer!

Boated up this summer to go to Fish Hawk, the pool bar. It's typically around $150 for the two of us to lunch with a couple drinks. Not cheap. They wanted $25, for us to park the boat, to go to their bar, and drink. I have tried since to see if they charge to park on their blacktop, to go to their bar, and drink.
To the bartender working the day we pulled away, the owners took your thirty some dollar tip. Glass half full, they ended up not getting it either.
The oysters at Merior, were delicious.

We carried my mother to Tides Inn last night for her 93rd birthday. The service, the atmosphere and the food were all fantastic!
It is a step above any resort I’ve ever been to.
I want to give a special thanks to our server, Ruth, who helped make our dinner so special.
She was so attentive and sweet.
Thank you Ruth!
BUGS! Crawling and biting me in my clothes on the bed!! Manager was rude when came to him with this issue!
My husband, son and I decided to this place in July. We were happy upon arrival as everything SEEMED nice. We were laying in bed the first night and I kept feeling stings I thought wow my skin is sensitive to this laundry detergent. I finally checked my pants and swarms of bugs were in there crawling all over me and biting me. I jumped out of bed and pulled back the sheets to see so many bugs all over. My sons crib was right next to the bed and there were bugs crawling up the side of the crib. My husband grabbed my son while I jumped in the shower to wash off and then a ent to the front desk. He said while he was waiting he was constantly being bit but couldn’t do much as he didn’t want to put my son down.
I ran to the front desk to get a room change as this was midnight. If it was any earlier we would have packed up and left. The lady at the front desk was nice and we moved to a suite. I asked if a manager could call me first thing in the am. The next morning I waited and waited no call. So I called and asked to speak to manager. One called me back (he was driving) I told him the situation and he said he would talk to another manager and call me back asap. I told him that we couldn’t shower, change or do anything because I wasn’t sure if bugs got into our bags and didn’t want clothes that had bugs in them. 45 MINS LATER still no call so I called and asked to speak to a manager. They said oh he’s in a meeting and the one you just talked to is at the airport! Confused and mad I said I needed to speak to someone right away. Another 45 mins went by so I walked up to the front desk and demanded to speak to a manager. Here came Emmanuel. He said to me that he was in very important meetings all day. He then sat down with me and in a condescending way said well what do you want us to do about this. As if I was just complaining about my drink or food being wrong or something. Not the fact that my son, husband and I were just surrounded with hugs crawling all over us and our things. He was so rude that we asked for trash bags to pack our things up and left. No one offered to help us pack or anything just left some trash bags out.
Upon leaving I called for days to get a hold of the manager. I left many messages and finally it took me speaking to someone at HR to pass on the message. The owner called back and apologized and asked if we wanted to come back. ABSOLUTELY NOT!
I told him that my husband and I are business owners and we took time away from our brides (we have very limited time off) to come on vacay and we couldn’t even go anywhere else because we had to go home and wash all of our things. He said that he would sending us something so we could go on another trip which I thought was nice…..well
Two weeks later and a call to remind them we get a gc for less than a one night stay there.
I do not recommend, they don’t care at all about their customers. Emmanuel who is the “manager” is rude, condescending and looks down on you. I said I wonder if he would have acted that way if he spoke with my husband instead of me.
