I am a licensed realtor in the state of Florida and I practice specifically in Gainesville. I am also a current resident of The Standard and trust me when I say I have had my fair share of issues. The fact is The Standard should not have been opened when it was. It was not completed and there were many issues with the building, specifically in construction. I personally have filed two legal notices against Landmark Properties in efforts to rectify the situation. I am also very involved in the community and I can say with confidence that The Standard has been the nicest place I have lived in my four years at The University of Florida. The building is under staffed but they work extremely hard for their residents. Robert and Natalie specifically have made my time at The Standard enjoyable and bearable. While this place is not close to perfect, I believe it has the potential to be the best living accommodation in Gainesville, and their reputation does not deserve to be tainted this early. The issues are still on-going but I have the upmost confidence that all will work out in the end. It is not the employees of The Standards fault but rather Landmark Properties who was contracted to develop this property. Robert and Natalie have been working diligently, listening to residents to fix the issues they are presented with, and I believe in one years time this will be the place to be.

DO NOT LIVE HERE Horribly managed by a rude, condescending staff. Garbage, vomit, and feces have continued to be a common sight, even in inside hallways. These can go days without being cleaned. Amenities that were promised on the lease were not ready until the last week of the fall semester. They lied continuously about when the pool and gym was going to be open. We also paid full rent during this time where our rightful additions to the apartments were withheld. I actually feel nervous just being in my apartment here because the people who built this place were so clearly incompetent. Every apartment has one coat of paint on the walls, evidence of shotty workmanship is everywhere. We are a new development but lost power for longer than anyone I know in Gainesville after hurricane Irma. Never mind hurricanes, every time is rains water pours through outside doors, etc. Im just thankful I’m living here in the first year because future residents will have a lot of black mold to deal with. Even the generators lost power, so we went days without even the bare necessities such as back up lighting. Living here will make you feel like you’re actually being stolen from.

Someone attempted to rush into my room at least twice today. This apartment cannot guarantee my safety although the staff are pretty nice.
