Modern American bar and pizzeria in Rancho Bernardo, frequented by the local community. Friendly service, a broad selection wine and liquor including rarer allocated bottles of whiskey, and a pleasant outdoor patio area.
The white/red wine selection rotates periodically and offers a good variety. A few people in our group started off with a refreshing, cold/sparkling red Lambrusco. Others enjoyed a Malbec, New Zealand Pinot Noir, and robust California Cabernet.
The Shop’s team continually seeks out new whiskeys to share. This past week, the staff brought back a Woodinville Bourbon from Washington state. The bourbon was light-to-medium bodied, with a pleasant nose, and it elicited discussion on its notes of caramel, chocolate, and vanilla 😊
The Fancy Caesar salad veered away from the traditional ingredients, with items such as dark leafy greens, hard boiled eggs, and bacon. A nice lighter choice among their offerings.
The Hawaii 5-0 pizza was topped with fresh pineapple chunks, red onions, thinly sliced jalepenos, and tasty Canadian bacon. It was paired with a thinner, made from scratch crust to make an overall tasty slice.
Also recommended are The Shop’s hearty deep dish pizza offerings, with a cornmeal-type of crust (nice texture / mouth feel) to complement thick layers of sauce and fresh ingredients.
Special thanks to Tanisha and Jesse for being long-time supporters of the community through their professional and friendly service! Wishing you the best with furthering The Shop’s substantial curated whiskey offerings!
