Honestly, really disappointed with menu changes to the chicken and waffles. The service was fine and the atmosphere was nice. I moved out of state and I came back in town and that was all I was thinking about food wise. Literally used to praise this place and recommend it to everybody. Went there tonight and they changed their chicken and waffles. It no longer comes with sausage gravy, or the cranberry or cherry type sauce that came with it. Had to be a manager or higher up decision to save some money or something cause it obviously does not taste as good as what it used to. They over pepper the syrup now and sprinkle bits of sausage (thinking that would make up for the gravy I don’t know), which are completely unnecessary. Probably will never go back. A true travesty that we all will never be able to experience The best chicken and waffles of all time ever again. Whoever made that decision to change that menu item, get rid of them.
I respectfully ask that you go back to chicken and waffles 1.0. Pepper maple syrup and rosemary-what? Rosemary?!?!? Thats terrible, give the people what they want: country gravy!

Four of us decided to try this place. They had no wings, no cauliflower, no pot pie (which was their special of the day and it was only 6pm), no grits, and so we had order a secondary choice which was below average. The cheese burger wasn’t warm enough to even melt the cheese that was on top. The veggie bowl was okay. Our salad was supposed to have extra toppings and they never came, but were added to the bill. The bill was wrong, then needed to be corrected two more times after that.
Tried 8 different beers in small flights and none of the beers were worth ordering a full serving.
One and done type of place.
We had high hopes for the post in Lafayette when looking for restaurants while we were at an event nearby. The restaurant was clean and inviting, with quick seating. Our server was great at recommending options and specials. Here is where it went downhill. We placed our drink order and wasn't approached for our food order for over 10 mins. We placed our food order, and waited another 5-7 mins for our simple drinks to arrive. Our food order came back within 15 - 20 mins. One of our three orders was delivered incorrectly and so we asked it to be fixed (arrived on the wrong bun). We assumed that it was a quick fix and would return quickly. We waited over 10 mins for it to be returned incorrectly again. Instead of sending back, we decided just to eat and get out. Our server was kind and had discounted part of the price of the sandwich, but at that point, we were pretty disappointed and honestly have not had such a poor service at a restaurant in years. The food and atmosphere were good, hopefully just a one off experience on a Monday night. Just a singular experience with the post, but raises questions on whether we would return to a post restaurant or not in the future.
This is a heartbreaking review to write as The Post used to be one of my favorite places to eat. The food quality and dishes have declined in quantity substantially since early 2025. My family recently returned to The Post, I ordered my favorite Chicken & Waffles. Previously you would get full chicken cutlets, waffles, seasoned butter and delectable chutney that really made the dish. Now, two chicken fingers on bland waffles, sprinkled with brown sugar and syrup....for $22! Even the deviled egg starters weren't as good, I think they changed the ingredients on those as well. It is unfortunate, but I will be avoiding The Post from now on. Hopefully they reverse course and make their meals interesting once more.
