- BHBryan HawnAug 8, 20251.0I was told if I buy 12 bags of cat food, I would get 1 bag free. The girl at the counter is telling me she still has to charge me taxes. 1. It is illegal to charge taxes if no financial money was exchanged. By Hillsborough County law in Florida, taxes must be applied after all discounts & if an item is FREE, no taxes should be collected. 2. This is very anti-climatic because FREE means exactly that, and still trying to illegally nickel & dime me after I bought 12 bags from your store is extremely off putting. 3. I could have chosen to buy these bags off amazon, yet I came to your store because you gave me a false incentive. Amazon is already putting many stores out of business and you definitely lost a customer because Amazon doesn’t lie to me. 4. It’s not amount the money, it’s about the principle. Theft is theft no matter how much. Ask yourself was it worth trying to siphon a few extra bucks off a customer who spent over 400 dollars at your store? 5. I’m contacted the Department of Revenue, letting them know you are taxing on free items and they should be in contact to audit your transactions. Reply to response: I just bought 12 bags from your store, you can’t cover the 2 dollars in taxes? Save it 🤡 Next time don’t advertise FREE
