The 19-story Tulsa hotel was the tallest building in Oklahoma when first built, and the only place with ice-cold tap water and rooms with ceiling fans. The distinctive Sullivanesque style, Art Deco-era hotel instantly became a high society hub in Tulsa, the Oil Capital of the World. Oil tycoons such as J Paul Getty conducted business deals in the lobby and celebrity guests such as Babe Ruth, Charles Lindbergh, Lucille Ball and President John F. Kennedy danced in the Crystal Ballroom.

We stayed at The Mayo Hotel recently, and while the property is beautiful and the location is great, I was frustrated with their valet policy. At check-in, we signed for “daily valet,” but it wasn’t clearly explained that this locked us into valet for our entire stay. We ended up being charged $30 per night even on nights we didn’t use the service, and when I asked about adjusting the charges, they weren’t willing to budge. I recommend clarifying parking policies in writing at check-in to avoid surprises. It’s a nice hotel, but the lack of transparency on valet charges left a sour taste.

Beautiful facilities and incredible service! We hosted a wedding reception in the ballroom for a friend, and one of the engineers, Carlos Sanchez, went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. Guest services are not typically the role of an engineer, so we were all incredibly impressed with his dedication and support. Thank you, Carlos, for making things run so smoothly!

This is for the restaurant. If your going to charge the amount of money you do for your food, at least have it hot. We were served luke warm entrees and cold potatos and asparagus. Disappointing. Nice server.

This hotel does not have the necessary services or physical condition to be considered a luxury hotel. No bellman service, no restaurant while we were there, the valet parking was almost nonexistent since they were understaffed and very busy. The rooms desperately need new ff@e and the shower was in really poor condition. Had to ask for shower gel and the room was not re-supplied daily. It is obvious that the hotel is not part of a national chain which requires minimum property standards. Had a second reservation that I cancelled before the cut off time per their cancellation policy, but was charged for the room. Several calls were made an not returned, and finally the manager was supposed to call me back but never did. Overall a poor hotel at a premium price.

The facilities were gorgeous but the kid friendly location tag on google I wouldn’t agree with. The staff seemed a little cold to my five year old (other than a magnificent worker in the cafe). My kid was so excited to go to this hotel because of the rooftop view he brought his binoculars. The rooftop happened to be closed tues-wed (which wasn’t clear on website) and we asked staff if we could have a quick peek anyway. They said probably during the day on the next day when it was less busy, but when I asked the manager the next day he coldly said “ya not an option” to me and my 5 year old. The museum in hotel was locked. A lot of the neighboring restaurants were closed down too (I realize this isn’t their fault). Again, I thought facilities were magnificent and I loved their vintage cocktail bar but we will look at a neighboring hotel if I have kids there in the future.
