Nashville's most original and longest standing hotel. Built in 1910 in a group effort by the community, our luxury Nashville hotel has been the backdrop for 106 years of traditions, memories, and iconic moments. As the top hotel in Tennessee and the most cherished, we look forward to being your home-away-from-home. Like the locals have said for more than a century, "Meet me at The Hermitage."
This review is for the tea service the hotels offers. I went today for my birthday. The good: Service was very good and all staff we encountered were professional and polite. The hotel lobby was gorgeous. The tea itself was lovely. The bad: While the area they provide tea service has a lot of potential, it was a little underwhelming. The tea sandwiches and pastries were just ok. Nothing that blew my socks off. At $100 per person, I would expect better quality food. It seemed generic and premade, like Trader Joe's frozen hors d'oeuvres and treats. The ugly: Again, when paying so much, you expect a certain level of ambiance. The carpets were dingy and stained. The menus were just paper and some of them pretty beat up with food stains on them. The carrier they serve the sandwiches and pastries on was dinged up and stained with rust or grime or both. I would expect a little more attention to detail, cleanliness, and elegance. It was an ok experience, but not one I would recommend considering the above.

The overweight Hispanic man with the nose ring made our experience here unforgettable in the worst way possible. We called and even had a card to take pictures inside of the hotel and this man followed us throughout the hotel and asked us to stop taking pictures even though we had spoke to them upon arrival. The second time he approached he stated that he had asked us to leave when that was not the case - he asked for us to stop taking pictures. Maybe hire individuals who know a thing or two about customer service - if even bad news doesn’t have to be said in a rude and condescending way. Do better.

Walking into this hotel’s lobby always takes your breath away, which is one of the many reasons we keep coming back. The rooms are great truly nothing to complain about. We do miss the Capitol Grill restaurant that used to be in the basement; the new option is decent for breakfast, but the food feels industrialized and pre-prepared rather than freshly cooked to order.
The staff are consistently nice and helpful, which adds to the experience. On our last visit, we enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the lobby before a night out, and the live piano player elevated the atmosphere even further. A memorable touch that made the evening special.

I can only give this hotel the worst review possible. We had a 4-day trip planned for September 2025 along with long time friends. We made the reservations in November 2024! That is correct. 10 months in advance. Our friends even used their membership in a high end vacation club called Inspirato.
We received a call about 3 weeks prior to arrival informing us they could not accommodate our reservation. We were flabbergasted. It was as if we were on a Seinfeld episode. “You know how to take the reservation. You just don’t know how to hold the reservation”. There was little effort at accommodation . Horrible service and experience.
The saving grace was our daughter who is a frequent business and leisure traveler to Nashville suggested 1 Hotel. Our experience there could not have been better. Much better hotel and in better location. Go to 1 Hotel and ignore Hermitage.
