We absolutely loved our stay at the Celestine. The staff were friendly, we loved the atmosphere, the room was gorgeous, the complimentary coffee in the morning was great, and it was overall an amazing experience and we think the best hotel we've stayed in. We stayed in a courtyard room and the noise from bourbon street didn't bother us. It was a great location too and so easy to get everywhere

My wife and I stayed at the Celestine for our elopement. Everything was fantastic from the central location to the amazing staff to the to the comfy-cozy room.
A huge shout-out to Johnny the GM amd Alex the bar manager who took our stay from fabulous to magical; letting us have our ceremony in the Celestine 's intimate courtyard and were also so gracious to sign as our witnesses!
Along with Gentry and Zari to round out the outstanding staff roster, our stay was like the New Orleans version of the Grand Budapest Hotel in all the best ways.
We will be back!

Photo says it all. Only 1 star for location. Rest was abysmal.
For the price this was maybe the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed at. The rooms were in complete disrepair.
The lights next to the bathroom are a legitimate fire hazard. They were held up by a nail and picture hangar so barely hanging. The bathroom door opened right into one, so when you open the door you knock it off the wall exposing live electric. Borderline criminal and someone may get hurt one day.
The shelf in the bathroom was so loose that when we placed our toiletries on it they slipped off and crashed in the sink.
Several power outlets were loose including one with a light in it, and when we tried to plug in another device, the slightest touch made the power come in and out with the faceplate barely covering the hole. Another fire hazard.
The switch in the bathroom didn’t even work which means we couldn’t use a hairdryer or anything else in there.
The walls had stains and big holes in the Sheetrock. I guess that might be shabby chic but to us it just screamed “in need of maintenance”
The service was essentially non-existent. The people were nice enough but generally invisible. Never greeted us in passing or offered any real hospitality.
Cherry on top was the water bottles that were on the end table right next to the entrance that were sitting there with no signage or indicator they were not complementary. There is a mini-bar in a totally separate part of the room. So not only was no free water provided, but we were charged for these waters when there was no indication and it’s reasonable to expect that the for-fee items would be with th rest of the mini bar items (or it least provide a price next to the bottles)
The bar was nice. Location was great. Only real positive.
Other than that, this feels like someone put a bit of stick up wall paper on on old hotel, got a good review from their friend at Travel & Leisure, and otherwise had never done or intends to do any maintenance.
If you wanna stay right in the French quarter, and I certainly don’t recommend this for everybody, this is a sweet oasis. Charming, clean, quiet-ish with earplugs with bourbon street above away and a lively bar downstairs. We love the bar Peychauds downstairs. Serious cocktails and great bartender and ambiance. The courtyard is lovely. We even took advantage of the sister hotel in the garden district, the Chloe, and use their pool one afternoon. I don’t know if I would stay in the French Quarter again, but if I did, I would certainly choose the Celestine.

Absolutely loved our stay at The Celestine! My partner and I brought my parents from FL to New Orleans for my dad’s birthday, and it was the perfect blend of French Quarter energy and peaceful retreat.
The staff were all warm and welcoming, and the bartenders fantastic—especially the one working Sunday afternoon, who mixed a delicious happy hour punch and shared both the hotel’s history and great recommendations for our last day. Her love for her hometown was contagious, and it’s those types of genuine interactions that made the trip unforgettable for my dad.
The rooms were gorgeous, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was pure bliss. I especially loved starting each morning with a latte from the on-site coffee bar and the sound of jazz drifting in from the courtyard.
I was looking for a place that went beyond a standard hotel and felt truly unique to the city's character, and Celestine is it. We couldn’t have asked for a better home base for such a special celebration.
