i stayed here on a whim last night, i checked out this morning. i originally booked a small queen bed room, their most cost effective. upon arrival i found out they upgraded us to the top floor suite! (#816) this room was really cute, it felt like an SF apartment! super charming room with a living room area, 2 tvs, large bed and big bathroom with a bathtub. my fav part was the little fire scape balcony! you’re able to stand out on it just don’t look down lol. i will agree that the property is on the older side but i think that’s what gives it character. there were some minor scuffs on the door and wall but i really don’t care about small things as such. i liked the hallways, they were painted black with gold decor and it looked a little spooky i loved it. me and my bf come to SF fairly often for concerts (we live 2hrs away) and we’ll definitely be coming back for this room in specific!!!! i don’t know what i was expecting when booking but me and my bf just loved it😊 only thing that kind of sucked was parking but again, i don’t care about small things like that. there’s a parking garage down the street for guest overnight parking. the photo below was the view from our mini balcony!

Over all the room was not up to par. There was hair on my pillow when I checked in, the screens in the windows were not fully attached, and a stained mattress. The shower head wasn't completely tightened so the first time I turned on the water it sprayed everywhere. The fastest the ceiling fan would go was so slow it was useless. The room does have an air conditioner which was a plus and the staff was helpful and friendly. It is a great location close to a lot of attractions. Quietest room I've been in, surprisingly. If I weren't on a work trip and basically needed a place to store my luggage and sleep this would be a worse review. Okay place depending on your needs and level of abuse you are willing to put up with.

This place is so great! We've stayed here twice and I'd guess we'll keep staying here. The hotel itself is old but has been really well reimagined. I love the lobby area, with it's velvet green curtains and historical photos from the past. The bed is soft and comforting and the location cannot be beat. Next door is Blue Stone Cafe which is perfect for morning coffee and around the corner is Beanstalk Cafe which makes the best breakfast sandwiches in town. This is the perfect place to crash for a weekend in the city.
