We had such a wonderful stay! Every single person we encountered at the hotel delivered top-notch service — friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. Traveling with two kids can be tricky, but the staff went above and beyond to make everything seamless for us. It was a true display of service excellence from start to finish. We can’t wait to return!

I have been lucky to stay in some wonderful Hotels but both myself and my wife consider The Beekman to be the coolest hotel we have ever stayed in. Oozes ‘cool’ and the rooms and staff were excellent. The bar staff enhanced the experience and made the best ‘Old Fashioned’ I’ve had so I’d just like to say thank you and we are now making plans and excuses to return (we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary) - wonderful - thank you - Grant

Worse than poor experience staying here this past weekend. A week before our wedding, a staff member from The Beekman emailed me to ask if we would downgrade our suite, which we not only booked a year in advance, but also advised at the time of booking, and numerous times thereafter, that the reservation was for our wedding. The staff member cited an availability issue of one-bedroom corner suites in her email as the reason for asking the bride and groom to downgrade to a much smaller room.... We pushed back and did not agree to a downgrade considering we had hair, makeup, and photographers coming, so we were then incredibly disappointed when we arrived to the hotel for check-in and overheard another guest being offered an upgrade to a one-bedroom corner suit for a flat $150....?! I thought there was an availability issue? Clearly not. Meanwhile, we were stressed and anxious on the security of our room ahead of our wedding for no reason - not to mention we were lucky enough to pay a full $5K for this room, while someone else was offered a cheap upgrade right in front of us. Pretty crazy. Beyond that, the room smelled like sewage the entire time, and service was terrible at every level - would it hurt these HOSPITALITY employees to be hospitable? From slow check-in, to even slower service when anything is needed, especially housekeeping on my wedding day, which arrived more than an hour and a half after my request after calling downstairs to follow up no less than four times, the stay was abysmal in literally every way. AND, despite telling the clearly incompetent "Reservations Revenue Manager" that we were coming to the hotel for our wedding and would not be able to accept an offer for a smaller suite, there was NOTHING in the room upon arrival (e.g., bottle of champagne, flowers, even a congratulatory note) to congratulate us or apologize for the undue stress she caused. Marriott would never. Skip skip SKIP this hotel and give your business to literally any other luxury hotel, because if luxury is what you're looking for, you'll see it on your bill but not anywhere else in the stay.

Awful Stay — Tiny, Smelly Rooms and Even Worse Service My stay at the Thompson Beekman was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. For a place that markets itself as “luxury,” the reality is shockingly different. The service is abysmal — staff are slow, dismissive, and seem completely uninterested in helping guests. Every request felt like an inconvenience to them. Check-in took forever, and not a single person offered a smile or genuine welcome. Housekeeping barely touched the room even after multiple calls, and when they finally did, it was rushed and careless. The rooms themselves are tiny, stuffy, and have a lingering unpleasant smell that never goes away. The ventilation is poor, making the space feel claustrophobic and stale. The carpets and curtains give off a musty odor, and the overall atmosphere is far from clean or comfortable. For the price they charge, the Thompson Beekman delivers none of the quality or class it pretends to have. Between the bad service, cramped rooms, and suffocating air, I could not wait to leave. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. This hotel is a perfect example of style over substance — and even the “style” is fading fast.

This review is from December 2024. I always recommend visiting The Beekman during the holidays due to the stunning interior so I decided to book a staycation for myself. I cannot recommend staying at this hotel unless you are interested in the larger rooms. The standard rooms are microscopic. The hotel is advertised as a 5 star property and while they might meet that in some aspects, they do not meet it in everything. This is a wider issue in Manhattan hotels but I refuse to ignore the drop in standard. The front desk staff is fantastic and attentive. They greet you with your name which is always appreciated. That’s about it when it comes to 5 star aspects. With such a gorgeous interior many people want to come in to experience it during high seasons. The issue is that zero priority is given to hotel guests. You are expected to make a reservation even to sit at the bar or wait how ever many hours it takes for a seat to open up. We had a few drinks and they were fine, nothing stood out so we ended up ordering classic cocktails. The breakfast service was unfortunately not good. The food was bland, the service was lacking attentiveness, and everything took a long time to come out. We were one of the only tables in the restaurant during breakfast. Everything in the morning seemed very chaotic and there was zero continuity of service with different people taking orders and bringing items without communicating with each other so we ended up waiting a long time. There was also a weird interaction with the people giving out complimentary hot chocolate in the lobby where they offered it to literally everyone except our group. It was just off putting. Overall, I would recommend visiting the hotel amenities such as the bar but not staying in the hotel itself. It is certainly not worth the STEEP cost. It also is not located in a great location in relation to other places tourists might want to spend time near. The surrounding area becomes quite desolate after 9pm.
