These nine holes of golf are all orientated parallel to the lake, offering unparalleled views of the water, multiple harbors, and the skyscrapers of downtown Chicago. Mature trees, an on-going renovation of the sand traps, and immaculate greens all offer a challenge to all skill levels. Reclaimed from the waters of Lake Michigan, this lakefront property opened in 1932 as Waveland Golf Course. Renamed in 1991 as Sydney R. Marovitz, this lakeside course is nestled between Lake Shore Drive and the shores of Lake Michigan.

No idea what other reviewers are talking about - played a round with three beginners (two of them women) and everyone in the pro shop and the starter were extremely friendly and courteous. The course was beautiful and excellently maintained, and we never felt rushed. Awesome course that everyone in Chicago should play.

Employees are very rude. One actually followed my friends and I. Scary experience.

Beautiful course but employee John was incredibly condescending to the women in our group. It was shocking considering we stated we all are experienced golfers. Would not recommend based on employee behavior.

Good course for beginners and a good pace on a Sunday but had to take off stars due to the starter. I believe her name was Jan, she was incredibly rude (specifically to female golfers as I observed). Rushed us on the first hole and wouldn’t let me play it even though we started ahead of schedule. She was super demeaning even though we told her it was our first time at this course. Not sure if I’ll return because of that.

My Mum came to play with a Putter, 7 iron, hybrid and Driver like she usually does. The Starter would not allow her to play without renting a set for $35......so she came all the way from Australia not to play because she found renting a set for more than the actual round costs is a rort. We also paid full price for green fees even though the greens had recently been repaired and were in horrible condition making putting a bumpy experience. I will say the shop attendant and course manager were lovely people, but the starter needs an attitude check (he also whinged about us to the group behind which is very professional). On top of this, we also waited at each hole for 20 mins. Such a shame because the course was actually really nice, but I won't be coming back anytime soon.
