Awful hotel manager won't speak with you about any complaints hung up on me multiple times. There is black mold on the air conditioner, dirty sheets, dirty couch with god knows whats on it, the curtains had stains on it, the refrigerator didnt work, bathtub wouldn't drian. Since we couldn't get anywhere with the manager at first we did call corporate (which they also didnt do much) and in retaliation they threw boots away that i accidently left there. Then when I got there to check the manager wouldn't come to the front.

We stayed over a full and busy weekend and there were no other hotels we could go to. Our fridge didnt work the entire time. We attempted to speak to the manager the 1st day of our stay bevause we were told thats when she woild be there. She basically told us to wait until we check out to discuss our issues. The bed sheets were stained, the blanket cut in multiple places, the air conditioner has mold, the pool isn't functional, and the in suite fridge doesnt work. Normally if there are issues loke this at any other hotel the offer to move you but our hotel was booked full our first night so understandable the nighttime staff could do nothing. But the manager will brush you off or ignore you. We have family that live here and need to find a hotel where we can be heard with any issues. I will no longer stay bestwestern in Topeka.
The only reason I gave two stars, and not one star, was because of the very nice and apologetic night time hostess lady. She moved us to a new room quickly when our first room had a broken fridge. They advertise a pool online and on their sign, but it was closed, and had been for what appears to be months! The ice maker is broken. The “fitness room” consists of three broken pieces of equipment. The elliptical itself should be removed, it’s seriously a safety hazard. No towels. The breakfast was the same gross cheese omelette and sausage stuff each morning. Made me feel horrible. We stayed three nights, our room was never cleaned! No trash emptied, nothing. Hallways smell like smoke. Our bed covering were stained. I mean I know it’s a cheap place but clearly it needs to be better managed. Owners are ripping people off! False advertising.
To start with the nice things - staff is absolutely amazing. Friendly and pleasant. Once you check in you will be greeted in your room with roaches safari. Beat up rooms, worn out furniture, but most of all roaches infestation make it a shame for Best Western to keep their brand label on such place (from a perspective of Platinum BWR member).

AVOID THIS HOTEL. Attempted to stay here on the 29th. We booked the room and then went out to grab dinner. When we came back we noticed a foul smell in the room coming from the air conditioner. The bathroom looked disgusting, and I've never felt the urge to check for bed bugs, but the state of this hotel prompted us to.
Sure enough, there were bed bugs. We promptly packed everything back up, and notified the front desk. When we did, the person at the front was very understanding, but wouldn't come to our room to look for themselves.
I was given a number to call in the morning for a refund. I called this number about 10+ times, and they would pick the phone up and immediately hang up. It wasn't until I used my wife's phone that I was able to get ahold of Sally the manager.
Sally was belligerent over the phone, claimed I had "planted the bed bugs" and told me to call back again tomorrow for a refund. Needless to say, I am going to have to go through my bank to get my refund, as I am not going to spend my week arguing with Sally when they could literally walk into our room and find the infestation just as quickly as we did.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn that night and it was a far cry from the dank infested room that we almost stayed in here.
