The rooms smell awful. Our room smelled like someone just had a seafood boil the night prior. Hotel is old and run down. Someone entered our room without permission. The hotel was not responsive when I requested to check out early with refund since the hotel was so loud with a terrible child running up and down the hallway. Staff are never at front desk checking who enters and main doors do not actually lock at night

Perfect! The location; across the street from the beach and Zorbaz, within walking distance to other restaurants, shops, parks and a leisurely stroll along the shore. The staff was courteous and helpful, the breakfast really good and hot, the room was very clean and the halls were quiet. We can't say enough about how perfect this property was to what we were looking for in a mini-vacation to Spicer. Thank you everyone who made our stay enjoyable. We will SureStay here again!

This stay was an absolute disaster from start to finish. First off, I made it crystal clear before arriving that I would be paying in cash, and the reservation was confirmed. So imagine my rage when, at 10 PM, I was woken up by staff threatening to cancel my reservation unless I provided a credit card. Completely unacceptable. Within minutes of arriving, we had to change rooms because the first one had a leaking sink flooding the floor. Clearly, maintenance is not a priority here. After the first night, we were locked out of our room because the front desk failed to properly program the key card. I stood at the desk ringing the bell for 30 minutes with zero response—only when I started calling repeatedly did someone finally bother to show up. This wasn’t an isolated incident either—I was left standing there like an idiot on multiple occasions. Every time a staff member asked how our stay was going, I told them the same thing: “We’re here on a fishing trip with a guide.” So when our guide dropped us off and chatted about the next day, a staff member came outside and rudely told him he couldn't use the empty lot and should "park in the grass." Really? That’s your priority? Trying to be respectful, I parked my truck far away from the entrance so it wouldn’t be in anyone’s way. Apparently that was a terrible idea, because while I was out on the lake, I got a call demanding I come immediately to move my vehicle. I had to cut my trip short, borrow the guide’s vehicle, and head back—only to get another call two blocks away saying never mind, move it “whenever I can.” I lost two hours of fishing time because of this nonsense. And don’t get me started on the breakfast—one of the main reasons I booked here. It was advertised to start at 6 AM, which worked perfectly with our schedule. My guide picked me up at 6:10 sharp each morning. Out of three days, not once was breakfast actually ready by the time I left. False advertising, plain and simple. This was hands down one of the most frustrating, poorly run hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Between the rude staff, lack of accountability, and endless incompetence, I am in this area all the time and hope that these things are fixed. Otherwise what is the point of the member account and points system?
