I’ve always loved Steve Madden, most of my shoes are from them but after visiting this location today, I’m honestly shocked and incredibly disappointed. From the moment my sisters and I walked into the store, we were treated with blatant disrespect by the three employees working there. (2 White girls and a Black male)
As soon as we entered, they started laughing at us for no reason. While we were simply trying on shoes and minding our own business, they were clearly talking about us, giving us looks, and giggling in a way that was anything but subtle. It was obvious and incredibly uncomfortable.
At one point, I found a pair of sandals I really liked and politely asked if they had my size. Instead of helping me, they passed the responsibility around like it was a joke, saying things like “you go help her,” “no, you go,” until finally one of them reluctantly said “alright, I’ll go.” The attitude was dismissive and unprofessional, making the whole situation even more awkward for all three of us.
We were just there to have a nice time, try on some shoes, and shop, nothing out of the ordinary. But the way we were treated made us feel completely unwelcome. I’ve never experienced something like this in a retail store, especially one I’ve supported for years.
In the end, I called them out and told them I was going to buy the shoes but changed my mind because of how poorly we were treated. I’m not someone who likes to complain or cause a scene, I truly don’t want to be “that person” but this crossed the line. This is not how customers should be treated, and I would never recommend anyone shop at this store.
I still love Steve Madden as a brand, but this store does not reflect the quality or respect the brand is known for. Management seriously needs to reevaluate the staff here. No one deserves to feel humiliated or MOCKED while shopping!!!!!!!!!!!
