Open since 2003, Sportsman’s Warehouse in Ankeny, IA is near Saylorville Lake, Des Moines River, and Skunk Rivers. National gunsmithing services are now available! If you like hunting, we’re here to get you all set up with everything you need. Popular pursuits include whitetail deer, turkey, pheasant, quail, and coyote. If fishing is more your speed, we have all of your tackle to catch the bass, bluegill, trout, crappie, catfish, or walleye that you’re after. We also carry plenty of supplies for boating, camping, and archery. Our shop services are available to spool reels, mount and boresight rifle scopes, clean guns, cut arrows, tune bows in our 11-yard archery lane, anything covered by your Firearm Service Plan, and any other equipment you bring in that we have experience with. Whether it’s a cold, snowy winter or a humid summer day, we’ve got the seasonal accessories to fit your outdoor adventure. While you’re in the area, be sure to check out local events like the Iowa State Fair, Ankeny Summerfest, RAGBRAI, Indianola Balloon Festival, Iowa Deer Classic, Tri-State Rodeo, Cinch Rodeo, and the Adel Sweet Corn Festival.

Customer service was friendly and helpful, but I felt pressured into buying extras I didn’t need (cleaning spray, extra spring, and an extended warranty). Good experience overall — just ask lots of questions and don’t let staff add things you don’t want.

All day I’d been dealing with people who either had very limited knowledge and experience OR were jerks. Not Mark. Mark had all the information one could ever ask for, he had personal experiences to relate. He took a consultative approach to selling and suggested what I needed. AND he is like the sweetest guy, I felt like I was chatting with my grandfather and he was teaching me about the different hunting rifles and their benefits. They don’t make “Marks” anymore and sadly he will likely retire soon, so go see him at the gun counter while you have a chance. He is an absolute gem and has actually changed my perception of the Sportsman’s Warehouse brand as a whole.
