Disappointed. After waiting a month our appointment was postponed another 5 days, the tech finally came, charged $235 would not give an estimate and left saying he was afraid to do the job. I'm sorry I called Smith Chimney, I don't think they can handle challenging jobs
Frequently Asked Questions About Smith's Chimney Service, LLC
How long have you been in business?
Our company has a rich history spanning three generations and 50 years of service in the chimney industry.
How often should I have my chimney cleaned?
Annual cleaning and inspection of your chimney is recommended by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (www.csia.org). If you use your fireplace extensively during the heating season, more frequent cleanings may be necessary to ensure safety and optimal performance.
What can I expect from a chimney cleaning from Smith's?
We prioritize your home's safety and cleanliness. Our process involves protecting the work area with tarps and runners, thoroughly brushing the chimney (typically from the top), cleaning the firebox and smoke chamber, and using specialized soot vacuums to remove debris. Throughout the cleaning, we conduct a comprehensive inspection to identify any potential issues or safety concerns.
I have a gas fireplace or no longer use my wood burning fireplace. Should I still have it cleaned?
While cleaning may not always be necessary, regular inspections are crucial for identifying hidden problems or safety issues that may not be apparent to homeowners. This provides peace of mind regarding your chimney's condition. It's important to note that gas fireplaces also require periodic cleaning and should not be neglected.
Why do I need to clean my dryer vent?
Dryer vent cleaning is essential for fire prevention. Approximately 15,000 homes in the U.S. experience dryer vent fires annually. Lint can accumulate beyond the standard dryer filter and build up in the vent, creating a highly flammable condition. Our efficient cleaning process helps mitigate this risk and protect your home.
What are the most common chimney repairs?
Common repairs include fixing cracks in the chimney crown, repairing damaged flue liners, and addressing issues with the chimney cap or flashing.
How do I know if my chimney needs repair?
Signs include visible cracks, water leaks, smoke entering the home, and unusual odors.
