This company is set up to take advantage of those who need it. If you're considering don't use this company !!!! I had a vehicle that had the device installed into it when it was time for me to get the device removed. I spent multiple hours on hold waiting to try to get an appointment to no avail, sent many many emails, still no help, finally took the device off myself took it to a shop turned it in, and then they are trying to charge me for the months, a couple or more plus all kinds of crazy fees for something I didn't use, and they wouldn't let me turn it back in. Therefore, it also charged me because they wouldn't accept it. I didn't use a vehicle anymore, and I had another vehicle that I had another device installed in. No worries, I could still drive, and I would still pay my monthly calibration. There were no real issues except for the large balance on the other vehicle that I didn't have anymore. Now they won't even let my current vehicle get calibrated because they want me to settle the old balance for something I really don't feel like I owe, nor can afford. At the calibration place a got someone on the phone to get the account unlocked, but that person on the phone was very rude and wanted me to pay $270 when all I can afford was to pay like $130 for my current calibration. She was very, very rude and told me I would just get in trouble with the law and she didn't care. So I just hung up and left. I'm trying to call many times to set up payment arrangements. Every time I call, I just get transferred, and then I sit on hold for another 45 minutes, and nobody answers. This is the same experience I had when I was trying to get the original device removed from the car that I don't use. How can I set up payment arrangements? How can I do anything if nobody talks to me. This company is a complete scam and really messes with those who are on probation and are required to do this. It's easy to set up, the device actually works pretty good no real issues, dealing with customer service after they've got you locked in, feels like they purposely want you to not be able to talk to them in case one little thing goes wrong and then they set you up for all kinds of money grab opportunities because they know you have to pay it in order to satisfy your legal obligations. At this point, I guess I'm just going to have to hire a lawyer, talk to my probation officer, and tell her I need to switch to a different monitoring device company. I've got all the emails I need to prove the issues I've had. I'm just a guy who made a mistake a year ago, and trying to do the right thing, but Smart Start Incorporated is really trying to screw people up by having a corporate non-contact format, that is dependent on contact in order for somebody to actually do things and pay on time. It's purposely set up for you to miss or make a mistake because I know you're dependent on them in order to not get in trouble. Every single time I try to call, I get the same result. The hold time of 45 minutes plus. You can't do anything on the app. They say you can make payment arrangements when you're on hold through the app, but you can't because they lock you out.
