- PSPete SmithMay 14, 20251.0My experience with James at Family Automotive & Tires in Rancho Cordova was very unpleasant. He was impatient, unprofessional, and took an opportunity to insult me. The first day I had to tell him "I'm calling in peace and not looking for a fight" in order to calm him down. I simply asked him how long a routine install would take and it sent him into a frenzy - 2x, 2 different days. I explained that Im trying to arrange my work day, while inconveniencing others, to drop off and recover my car. I had to be very careful with my words because he gets "set off" very easily. He'll tell you it'll be ready at 2 o'clock but, when you show up, he'll tell you to angrily tell you to take a hike and call you when it's ready. His demeanor is deplorable. I'm thankful I never have to go back and would encourage anyone who needs an interlock (or otherwise) to go elsewhere.

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.

Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
