What do I need to bring to my interlock device installation?

What do I need for interlock device removal?
Please retain any / all forms given to you after applying for your ignition interlock license. For interlock removal, you will need to present a valid driver's license with no interlock restrictions. You may also need to present an official “clearance of suspension” notice or court minutes stating the order to remove the interlock. Once the above has been provided and verified, we simply remove your device.
Do I need an interlock device on all of my vehicles?
No. In Alabama you are required to have an interlock on whichever vehicle you choose to drive.
Does the interlock device mess up or hurt my vehicle?

How does an interlock device work?
When you blow into your ignition interlock device, you're providing a breath test sample to start the vehicle. The device then measures your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You also will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC).
Is an ignition interlock the same as a handheld breathalyzer?
No. While ignition interlocks and handheld breathalyzers both test your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC), an ignition interlock device is installed in a vehicle and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
Can I unplug my ignition interlock?
Check with your state authority to see if you are allowed to unplug your ignition interlock before doing so.
Can someone else drive my car?
Yes, but whoever is driving the vehicle MUST take a breath test and pass before driving. Any failed test will still be your responsibility.
