- KDKaitlin DuyMay 13, 20252.0This place takes substantially longer to service vehicles for Smart Start than anyone else I've used in the Denver/Aurora/Centennial area. If you have been to any other place for the regularly, scheduled calibration you have to wait however, they move fairly quickly. This place hooks up the cord and carries on with their day for sometimes longer than an hour giving the impression the download is taking longer than usual. It doesn't take that long, they're just not very concerned about being speedy at this one. So, if you're in any kind of hurry you'll likely save time going to a different servicer, despite the distance and drive time. I suggest the other Aurora location at Rocky Mountain Automotive off of 6th Ave and Airport or the Centennial one, off of Arapahoe Rd. and Revere. Either one of those places will hustle you in and out even if you're in lockout mode. They're just way, way, way faster.

What do I need to bring to my installation?
Bring a photo ID and proof of residence in the form of a document verifying your address. You may also be asked to bring any documents that pertain to your case, depending on the state in which you or your program are located. How do I know if Smart Start's devices are compliant with my program?

What do I need for removal?
Requirements will differ by state, but generally your state authority must grant removal authorization before you can have your IID removed. How do I use an Interlock Device?
Using a Smart Start Ignition Interlock is easy! When prompted, blow into the device for a few seconds until you hear a click that signals the test is complete.
How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
Can I unplug my Ignition Interlock?

Can someone else drive my car?
Yes, but whoever is driving the vehicle MUST take a breath test and pass before driving. Any failed test will still be your responsibility.
