- MMMandi MillerSep 14, 20251.0They do not answer there phone you can be sitting in there parking lot when their open, walk in their there, walk out try to call no answer! I live about 40 minutes away go there for my app. For calibration he says well it's broke, well would be nice if I could call and find that out, another time had two wait almost 3 hrs for calibration, one time had to take off work again, because machine was broke,and still got charged late fee when I was their on time..this place is nothing but a freaking joke,now at the present time 9/14/25 after calling all day yesterday when they said they were open 10-6 and no answer,I'm with no vehicle because the device is draining my battery!!! It's undrivable! Calibration the 20th watch them charge me for this fools actions, Hell I'll probably have to tow it up there because I can't get help from nobody! It's not my battery, and it's not my alternator, do better people!!!!!!!!!
- ASAlena SApr 12, 20251.0Tried to get a calibration done on 4/9 they were closed by 6pm. Tried to go today at noon...theyre open but won't do it. We live over and hour away and the customer service is terrible. Wont answer phones...wont reschedule appointments. They say that smart start has to change the appointments and smartstart says that the business has to....makes zero sense. Would not recommend going here.

What do I need to bring to my installation?
Bring a photo ID and proof of residence in the form of a document verifying your address. You may also be asked to bring any documents that pertain to your case, depending on the state in which you or your program are located. How do I know if Smart Start's devices are compliant with my program?
Smart Start is a NHTSA certified Ignition Interlock provider, so we’re able to meet all of the alcohol monitoring authority’s requirements to ensure that you’re compliant within your state or county.
How often does my Ignition Interlock Device need to be serviced?

What do I need for removal?
Requirements will differ by state, but generally your state authority must grant removal authorization before you can have your IID removed. You will then need to fill out the Device Removal Request form on our website and upload any official documentation that may be required to authorize the removal.
Do I need an Interlock Device on all of my vehicles?
Some states will require that you have an Ignition Interlock Device installed on all cars registered to you, but most states will just require that whichever vehicle you drive have an IID installed. Check with your state authority to see if you will need an IID installed on all of your cars.
Does the Interlock Device mess up or hurt my vehicle?

How long does the Ignition Interlock installation take?

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
Can I unplug my Ignition Interlock?
Check with your state authority to see if you are allowed to unplug your Ignition Interlock before doing so.
Can someone else drive my car?
Yes, but whoever is driving the vehicle MUST take a breath test and pass before driving. Any failed test will still be your responsibility.
