- SJSamy JeanJul 17, 20251.0The workers were great and did their job but my experience was not that good overall. I called to set up an appointment for 7/16 9am. The lady I spoke to explained everything and the prices but didn’t tell me I’d have to pay both the 280 labor and the 160 monthly fee the same day. I got there at 8:50 to make sure I came on time and Would have time to get to work on time. When I got there the front desk lady said she wasn’t notified of an appointment even though I had an email confirming the appointment. It also showed the address so I knew I was at the right location. The front desk lady said she still didn’t see anything and for me to double check the location I chose. So I went back to my email and it had an option for me to click on directions so show me the route so I did that and it started taking me somewhere else. To an Omaha address 16 minutes away. As I was driving there I tried to call to let them know the situation and how I was running late but it called the office that I was JUST a, which left really confused. When I got the destination it was taking me. It took about 10 mins to find the building but when I did t looked like it shut down. So I called the number back in hopes they could explain it to me and it turned out they had shut down that Omaha location and were at the location I went to at first. So I had to drive BACK the 16 minutes to finally be able to get taken care of. Due to negligence of the company, my appointment wasn’t there. I wasted 30 minutes of driving/gas and was 45 mins late to work

What do I need to bring to my installation?
Bring a photo ID and proof of residence in the form of a document verifying your address. You may also be asked to bring any documents that pertain to your case, depending on the state in which you or your program are located. How do I know if Smart Start's devices are compliant with my program?

How often does my Ignition Interlock Device need to be serviced?

What do I need for removal?
Requirements will differ by state, but generally your state authority must grant removal authorization before you can have your IID removed. You will then need to fill out the Device Removal Request form on our website and upload any official documentation that may be required to authorize the removal.
Do I need an Interlock Device on all of my vehicles?
Some states will require that you have an Ignition Interlock Device installed on all cars registered to you, but most states will just require that whichever vehicle you drive have an IID installed. Check with your state authority to see if you will need an IID installed on all of your cars.

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
Can I unplug my Ignition Interlock?
Check with your state authority to see if you are allowed to unplug your Ignition Interlock before doing so.
Can someone else drive my car?
Yes, but whoever is driving the vehicle MUST take a breath test and pass before driving. Any failed test will still be your responsibility.
