- CMCj MunozJun 22, 20245.0Friendly And Fast Service. But smartstart I don't recommend. It's a scam. My car was turned off and when I came back it said I missed a blow. This is so uncalled for I will definitely be switching. Not to mention my lights/ac turn off well driving when I need to blow.. DO NOT GET THIS DEVICE. The place who installed it are great it's the smartstart company.

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.

Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?

A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
