We have been working with Sloan Financial for a few years now and are very impressed with their ability to make us feel like their most important client regardless of the situation. We had a lot of questions as we did not know how to start retirement planning and they made sure everything was on the table with full transparency with a clear plan that gives us peace of mind. If you want someone who is going to make it seem like you're working with an old friend and make any financial decisions as smooth as possible, I highly recommend Sloan Financial.
Frequently Asked Questions About Sloan Financial Solutions, LLC
Is there a fee for an initial meeting?
There is no fee for an initial meeting.
Why should I hire a financial advisor?
A financial advisor, like myself, can help you be responsible and efficient with your finances. In a 2019 study, Vanguard assessed that a financial advisor adds about 3% net return per year to a client’s portfolio.
How do you create a financial plan?
We start by gathering your financial information such as assets, loans, income, expenses and goals. From there we are able to determine what initial needs are as well as long term needs are for planning. We start with addressing most urgent and impactful items first and then continue on to get the whole plan put into action.
How can I get started?
A free initial consultation is the best place to start. We can talk through where you currently stand financially and what is important to you. Give us a call or shoot me an email and we’d be happy to find a time to talk.
What kind of clients do you work with?
I pride myself on not being too niche. I work with teachers, business owners, software engineers, pastors, contractors, nurses and much more. The majority of my clients are 50 and older, but being younger myself I work really well with younger clients looking for a place to get started on the right track.
What is your investment strategy?
I tend to be more of a long term investor. This means we invest for the future and not for the next month. Being longer term I use more of a buy and hold with strategic management of funds and stock portfolios to provide results for long term goals. In my experience clients often tend to be too active with their investment management when trying to do it on their own which often doesn’t lead to optimal performance.
I’d like to retire but I’m not sure if I can. Can you help?
This is probably my favorite area to help clients with. It’s such a stressful topic for clients as we’ve been working towards retiring for most of our lives. I like putting clients’ financial situations into perspective and helping them see the transition into retirement become a reality. Often people don’t think they’ll be able to retire or that they have to work until they are 70 to be able to retire effectively. Being smart and efficient with your financial plan we are often able to trim that timeline down significantly. It’s best not to wait until the last minute though, the sooner we get your plan of action put together the more time we can work on shaving off your retirement timeline or maximizing your retirement assets when you are ready to retire.
Who can benefit most from your services?
Oftentimes the biggest area of help I provide to clients is helping them plan for retirement and then transition into it. I also am good with estate planning for people looking at how to most effectively pass their estate onto their family or charities.
We have kids we’d like to save for college for, do you help with that?
We help clients with saving and passing money onto their kids. There are a couple main options people use for a situation like this. An UTMA or a 529 plan. They have different features and intended uses and we help clients identify which fits their goals best.
Do you help with taxes?
We don’t prepare tax returns for clients. I’m not a CPA or considered a tax professional, but we do help clients be smart with their finances in regards to taxes. Capital gains, donating stocks and funds to charities and churches, qualified charitable donations, and income tax planning are some of the main items we help clients with.
My Spouse and I are just beginning to build for our financial future. There is so much to learn. We need help and guidance to get started. Will you accept us as clients?
An initial meeting is a great place to start. It gives both of us the opportunity to make sure we are a good fit for each other. I’m pretty easy going and will likely accept you as clients unless you are looking for help in areas I’m not really able to help with. In which case I’d refer you to people I know who would be able to help.
