AVOID! I highly recommend avoiding SIXT. Like many other posts, brought back a rental, no employee checked my car before or after returning my rental and then two days after returning home accused of damaging the front windshield. When I arrived another customer complained about the same thing - for them it was “denting the license plate”. Luckily I got damage and liability insurance but just feels like a scam for them to charge the insurance company. If you do rent from them get the insurance.

I was apprehensive about using a company I had never heard about but the reviews were pretty good so I went for it. I did not go directly through Sixt, I used a third party app to reserve the car for my two week trip. I had to wait a few minutes getting the car because it was a bit busy but every one I came across from Sixt was kind and helpful. On my return Ali was there to take the car and made a point to let me know what to do and Justin in the office was helpful! Thank you Sixt!!

I live in San Diego and rented a car from SIXT while my car was in the shop for repairs. I was leery about renting from them what with the pickup location being at the airport and because I had only ever rented from the big name companies before. I couldn't have been more wrong it was super easy and the cars were fantastic! Best airport rental experience I've ever had hands down.🏆🙌 And using it for a local rental was surprisingly easy also. Uber driver had no problem getting me there or picking me up from there. And once I arrived it was easy to figure out where to go and easy to get to the car pickup point too. The return and drop off couldn't have been easier. The staff was fantastic, and the actual process was the easiest and fastest I've ever had. 🚀🏃‍♂️They gave me a really sweet ride for the day that made the whole thing really fun.🏎 I'm definitely telling my friends and I'm definitely coming back. Thx to THE Robert and THE Justin and THE Ali !

Usually rent from another company but decided to try Sixt in the US since they’re great in Europe. Big mistake. Mobile check-in told me to “go pick your car” which was adorable because there were no cars. Had to hike back, cancel mobile check-in, start over, then stand around awkwardly for 10+ minutes while someone found my mystery vehicle. When it arrived, it looked like it had just come home from a road-trip apocalypse at burning man — scratched up, barely sprayed off, dead bugs, missing center-console cup holder, and had almost 45K miles on it which is straight excessive for a rental car. Within a few hundred miles of driving, it threw aggressive maintenance warnings, random alarms, and electrical tantrums enough for me to question my life choices. Lane-assist was so erratic that I felt personally attacked. Then came the $50 pet-hair fee on return even though we’d fully covered the back seat like responsible adults. Check-in guy was chill, but his bearded coworker had pure “I’m done with humans” energy and ignored my feedback. When I mentioned the high mileage both agents acted offended like I’d literally questioned their manhood lol I promise I genuinely wasn’t trying to be “that customer” but I was definitely made to feel like one. A little patience and empathy would’ve gone a long way. Love Sixt in Europe but the SD airport branch is a whole mood. Won’t be back. UPDATE: Upping to 3 stars because Sixt reached out and made it right which wasn’t my intention but a super nice surprise!
