Ship Smart is good for small long-distance moves. They pick up your stuff from one location, take it to a warehouse to be weighed, at which time they give you a final cost, and then once paid, send it to a warehouse in your final destination for a local moving company to deliver with appointment.
If you want something quickly, this is not the company for you, as it does take about 4-5 weeks from pick up to delivery. Also, my estimate was about half the final price, which was unfortunate, but I realize the pieces they picked up were very heavy which increased the final shipping amount.
Also, I paid for white glove delivery so a really nice dining room set and poker table could be delivered into the rooms I wanted. Turns out, that does not include assembly. In order to reassemble, you will need to pay them $100/hour. I spoke with a manager who graciously agreed to cover this expense, but make sure you read their fine print regarding assembling items moving forward.
As a strong positive, every person I have spoken to and worked with have been great and responsive.

We had a very frustrating experience with Shipsmart Inc. for our cross country move. Shipsmart claims on its website that it is a company that specializes in small moves so they appeared to be the right fit for our move. After filling out our initial estimates, we were told that with our listed pick up date of 8/26/21, we should expect to receive our goods around the date of 9/6/21. We were assured several times that our items could arrive by 9/6.
We were concerned with the fact that the estimate for our goods was nonbinding given that we knew that it was more than likely that what was listed did not entirely match up with the estimate in terms of weight. We followed the companies guidelines for itemizing our packages but there was no clear information about how this would translate to weight, therefore there was no way for us to assure that our order would accurately reflect our full move. Despite multiple attempts to reach out by phone and email, our questions were either not answered or we were told that any changes to pricing would only be in the range of a few hundred dollars. We requested this information be included in our contract, in email, or otherwise in writing several times. Never once in the entire process were we given any sort of indication of how weight prices were calculated, despite many requests.
Due to us moving into an urban area that requires that we reserve parking for moving vans/trucks in advance, we wanted to know as soon as possible a potential move in date. When we made the initial request for this service, we were assured that if our items were picked up by 8/29, they could be delivered by 9/6. During our first attempts to get an estimated delivery date, we were told that an accurate estimate wasn’t possible given that a delivery could take four to six weeks from pick up. I asked if it were to be possible to have a date of delivery closer to our original move in date of 9/6/21. I made it very clear that if this was not possible then we would be seeking another company to move with as we did not want to be living in an empty home for weeks on end. After conversations with Ship Smart and their chosen shipper, Coast Crate Company, we were assured that our items would be ready to ship out by early the week of 9/30/21 and that our items should be expected to arrive during the week of 9/6/21 and at the latest the week of 9/13/21. Given these reassurances, we opted to stick with Ship Smart Inc. instead of using an alternative company, which in hindsight was a huge mistake.
Our items were picked up on 8/27. Despite us paying for the service of having our items packed and carried out from our apartment by Coast Crate Company, only a single employee was sent and I was forced to help the poor man carry many of our larger items out of the apartment. The employee was overall very friendly and once again assured us that he should have our stuff crated and ready to ship to us by early the following week.
During the following week, I spoke with Coast Crate and he informed us that packing our items was taking longer than expected but that the items should still be ready to ship out by the end of the week. We were frustrated given the assurances that were given to us, even on the day of pickup, but there wasn’t much we could do. Finally, Ship Smart Inc called us and told us that our items were ready to ship and that we needed to pay before our belongings were sent to us. However, the price they asked us to pay was over $3,000 more than our initial estimate. When we asked to know why the price increase was so high, Ship Smart simply informed us that the shipment was heavier than expected but refused again to tell us how this weight was calculated. Looking back, it seems very likely that the majority of this increase in weight came from the heavy wooden crates that Coast Crate Company packed our belongings into and not from the items we were shipping. We had no control over the packaging of this move and should not be paying for the weight of the packaging.

Sorry, but they promised a lot and never got back to me with anything. Twice they promised a quote and pickup and never heard from them again. Maybe they’re overwhelmed with Covid. If so, pick someone else who has stepped up. I did, with good results.
It’s sad and disappointing to leave a bad review for a company that on the surface seems good, but these folks failed me miserably and deserve the feedback.

I was over 3,000 miles away from home and very overwhelmed with how I was going to get my belongings to LA. Ship Smart made everything really easy. I packed the boxes and they took care of everything else. I reached out multiple times with questions and always received nice, friendly service. They made my move super easy, stress fee and really convenient, just what I needed. My stuff arrived in LA in perfect condition sooner than expected which is always a plus!
I highly recommend them!
