I strongly advise property owners to avoid doing business with Scott Properties. Most of these 5 star reviews are not from property owners. My experience with their management services was highly unsatisfactory. They consistently ignored my inquiries while managing my property, creating numerous issues. For instance, I wanted my crawl space company to do an inspection and had them reach out to Scott Properties directly for scheduling. They attempted to contact Scott Properties daily for two weeks, only to be ignored. Btw, Crissy is the most unresponsive and unhelpful. Scott Properties preferred using their own network's contractors, to charge me extra. I understand that’s how they make a profit but they over charged for the most minor repairs and maintenance calls. My tenants complained to my handyman that Scott Properties usually take 2-3 weeks to address their maintenance issues. I had the feeling that was already an issue bc their administration is hard to get a hold of so I started to send my own maintenance techs out to maintenance calls. My maintenance crew arrives within 3 days of the maintenance calls because I’m a good landlord. Additionally, the tenants left a fist-sized hole in my garage wall, and Scott Properties failed to address it, leaving me to cover the repair costs out of pocket. Regarding the tenant's deposit, I was never provided any documentation detailing what damages were charged to the tenants. Despite promises to repair the garage hole, nothing was done. Furthermore, a tenant’s unauthorized cat caused significant damage to my property, including chewing up the door jam and urinating in the bedroom. Although I explicitly reiterated my no-pet policy to a leasing agent, Scott Properties allowed the cat to move in without my consent or providing any written notice about a cat or cat deposit. I discovered this only when I repossessed my property, which was filthy and reeking of cat urine. Consequently, I had to remove all the carpets and make additional repairs due to the cat’s damage. They never amended the lease to include the cat. They were trying to please the tenants so they would renew their lease with them. My neighbors told me that they were very surprised that a cat moved bc they said they know I’m not a cat person. I had a no pet policy established in the lease the tenants signed with Scott Properties. I told Scott properties that the cat is cute and made a joke about it but I need to know the details of the changes in the lease before I would agree. They conveniently assumed this as an authorization. I spoke to Dan on the phone the next day and told him that I have to be firm with my cat policy bc I’m allergic to cats and I will be moving back into the property. They went behind my back and let this cat move in anyway. Based on my experience, Scott Properties demonstrated a lack of professionalism and responsiveness, leading to significant out-of-pocket expenses and unnecessary stress. I will sue them for damages when I have time but I can make more money with that time doing other things. I highly recommend seeking alternative property management companies. They totally side with the tenants. They don’t look out for the best interest of the property owners. I’m glad I didn’t list my other properties with them.

I don’t have much experience with property management companies, however I feel Scott Properties did a good job in being fair and always communicated in advance when they would be doing their quarterly walk throughs. I liked the website for communication and making payments, simplified things. Calvin was great, the young man who does the move-in and out inspections.
