Had an eye emergency and Santa Maria Eye Center was amazing! Kailey, Isabella, and Dr. Sica were so kind and welcoming. They got me in right away and I was in and out in 30 minutes. Excellent care and service — highly recommend!

I'll give them -ve stars, not even "0"! Take away the stars they received. I cannot even post my comment without giving them at least 1 star. Everyone reading please subtract the one starI've given plus take away many more! They never answer calls.Their records are messed up. They can't find them & to top it off tell the patients thatpatients are forgetting & in error! Dr. Rejen Desai becomes extremely rude if one refuses to become his experimental object. He SNUBS the patient if they ask him treatment related questions & treats them in a horrible manner. Even snatches away the free flyers that patients can take to keep themselves informed! He is very NARCISSISTIC! Some technitians are good though!

As a former patient of Jaime Santamaria,MD of the Santamaria Eye Center of Menlo Park Edison, I was impressed by his expertise and caring. The former alone is transactional, the two together is what distinguishes an ordinary physician from an extraordinary one. Santamaria Eye center is trying, valiantly, to maintain that legacy. For two weeks, I had been trying to acquire eye drops medicine through a specialty pharmacy. I left a text message for the optometrist, Laila Collicchio, OD. No response. However, I did receive 6(six) computer generated text messages: “ Hi, it’s Laila Colicchio’s office. Please review your prescription below.” I did. It directed me to Blinkrx U.s. After repeated calls I ascertained that her office had not followed the required protocol. Given my resources, I was about to depart when two persons at this office stepped in - Tania, the manager at Perth Amboy and Isabel from the Edison office. They are both caring, efficient and responsible individuals. The former gave me a sample to tide me over and the latter fixed the protocol issue after others said they would and never did. I received the needed eye drops nearly weeks later precisely because of the delayed pre-authorization response. As I said at the very beginning, it is not enough to prescribe, the meds have to reach the patient. As one who has benefited from assistants and secretaries, I thank the individuals who stepped up. I hope my experience is an aberration. I am inclined to hope (with a measure of anxiety) that corrective measures will be taken. Fortunately, in this great land we have many choices and I have the resources to move on! Mervyn C. D’Souza. MS., Ph.D. Kean Sr. University Prof (Retd.)
