I've had the worst experience with roadguard...I only have a 4 month compliance. I got my device installed January 2nd first time I had an issue I was getting false failed tests. I take it in to get calibrated and I get maybe a week of undisturbed driving the device working fine until EVERY MONTH SINCE I wake up to a 5 day lockout warning to get my car to a shop. The mechanic at the Tacoma shop I got my device installed will not work on my car ...simply advises Im gonna have to tow my car to another shop. I've been driving out of my way for false violations going 6 months now . A replacement was mentioned but never happened. The device has been troubleshooted 3 times..I've asked for reimbursement. To be told get the car to a shop pay again for violations and calibration atleast twice a month. Lost sleep due to being in compliance when I have court but like I said soon enough I get the 5 day warning and back where I started..customer service is terrible they just tell me to repeat the process without any results. At this point I'm done and just want reimbursement so I can put all of this behind me ! I will never recommend roadguard. I wouldn't wish that misfortune on anyone...I've been waiting for a supervisor to call an still nothing. I hope I can get some kind of history report to show the d.o.l wjat I've been dealing with and hopefully approve me for removal.

Frequently Asked Questions About RoadGuard Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

When you start your vehicle, you have to blow into a mouthpiece that’s connected to the ignition interlock device, sometimes called an in-car breathalyzer. The interlock device will then measure your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) and automatically determine whether your BrAC is low enough to allow the car to start. Any test you take, whether pass or fail, will be reported to your monitoring authority.

How much does an ignition interlock device cost?

Ignition interlock device costs vary because each state has different pricing regulations and device technology requirements. But in general, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 to install the interlock device depending on vehicle type. After the initial interlock installation, you are required to pay a monthly rental or lease fee. On average, the cost to rent or lease an interlock device is between $50 and $150 per month.
