RightStart™ Mathematics will help your child understand, apply and enjoy mathematics using games to learn concepts, strategies, and to practice math facts. This unique program uses visualization of quantities, de-emphasizes counting, and provides strategies (visual pictures) for learning the facts. Place value is introduced early to solidify the children’s understanding. The primary learning tool is the Cotter Abacus, a specially designed two-sided abacus that is kinesthetic and visual.

- AMAmber Mitchell3 days ago5.0We have used right start for years. When my oldest was young saxon was recommended for math and it proved to be very difficult for my daughter. Right start made math come alive for her visually. Having the tactiles and the games were building blocks to understand math that i never could have given her on my own. We have 5 kiddos and i don’t think i would ever leave this curriculum. It is teacher intensive but also extremely explanatory. After the first use of the curriculum it ends up being very affordable especially if you have multiples that use it. So now every new year of math is likely just the cost of the workbook.

I have dyscalculia myself, and I honestly believe I would have learned a lot more as a child if I had only had access to RightStart. Totally worth the investment in terms of time and money.

Our older kids can even confidently do lessons with our younger kids - and we love that the whole family can play the games together. In the beginning of our homeschooling journey we bounced around a lot from different math programs, but found that this program fit their needs and after using it for a few years, they actually have retained what they have learned. It’s a great program. I recommend it to all our homeschool friends.
