I went there with the intension of purchasing some Altra brand trail shoes, as they have been my go to for a few years. When I told Spencer what I needed and what features were important to me, he also suggested I try on the Hoka Gaviota's, which I promptly declined as I had tried Hoka's before but was not impressed. Spencer was so patient and accommodating as he brought out at least 8 different styles, to no avail. None of them felt quite right. I succumbed to Spencer's wisdom and genious and tried the Hokas. I LOVE THEM!! Spencer was right! I'm now skipping around in my new kicks, with more energy and pizazz. Spencer might have offered the best sales experience I've ever had. Go to REI and ask for Spencer.

- KDKevin DownsAug 11, 20251.0Louisville has waited a long time for an REI store and when this one opened I thought it would be great. This store is very unfortunate. It is slightly stocked. Warehouse like. Usually out of items that I want ("you can order on the website sir") Like I said, very unfortunate compared to other REI stores in other markets. I don't understand what the thought process is here; why put a store in the most expensive shopping area in town and then understock it? Makes no sense. I am not the only person who has said this. You talk to other outdoors people and they say "oh yeah, we have an REI but they don't have very much." I cant see this store having much impact on the local market unless they change and add more inventory. Quest is much better. Again, a very unfortunate store.
