Daryl in shoes is THE MAN!!! Great service, super helpful, and kind personality with a good sense of humor! We both got a pair of shoes! This guy provides the kind of customer service that used to be the standard! He is awesome! REI is great! Much better than Whirlpool. We bought a new washing machine from them and it broke after 22 months!!! Do not buy Whirlpool products. Do buy REI products! LIFE IS GOOD!!!

Most of the staff here are genuinely very nice. The cashier was great, and even an older staff member went above and beyond to help. I stopped by to check out some jackets, and there was a bald Caucasian man with glasses folding clothes. He didn’t make eye contact the whole time and just gave the standard, “Hi, let me know if you need anything,” which I found a bit odd — because he wasn’t even looking at us. After I left the item I was trying on (the zipper still undone), he immediately came over to organize it. He said something while we weren’t paying attention, then said “thank you” after, before walking away, and I felt lost and felt slightly passive-aggressive. Later, when we tried on another jacket and were about to leave, he finally stared at us and said something starting with “Wow…” in a tone that came across as sarcastic as organizing. It was confusing and uncomfortable. It’s his role to organize clothing on the floor, so I’m not sure what actions he expected from us. Perhaps he felt irritated and humiliated that he has to tidy up after people? But the interaction felt unnecessarily tense. I hope the store can look into this, as it stood out in contrast to how kind and professional the rest of the staff were.

Went to look for a new jacket. Took one off the rack to see what the price was. 80 decibel screech left ears ringing for the next few hours. Never going back into an REI store ever again.

This is the new REI location in Lynnwood. It moved from a smaller location on the other side of the 5 freeway, also in Lynnwood. This location is MUCH larger inside to pack in more of your outdoor needs. I went on the opening day for this location as you can see in some of the pictures and videos. Walking inside, the registers are on the immediate left of the front door. From there, the store opens up to various departments such as shoes, bikes, hiking, camping, apparel, etc. As far as apparel goes, there are changing rooms in the middle of the store for your convenience. Without a doubt, you will find something you want or need at this REI. I went in just to look and ended up buying a new car camping propane stove and 10 packages of lightweight dehydrated meals! Everything is kept new looking with minimal dust on items. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but sometimes it can be hard to find an employee to help you on a busy day. It's a good REI, so if you are in a section and have a question, don't be afraid to say hi to a fellow in-your-section shopper and pose the question as many shoppers have outdoor experiences and might be able to help you; I asked a fellow camp stove shopper a question which led to a lively camp stove discussion between us and both of us buying the same camp stove. So yes, fellow shoppers are more often than not ate friendly and talkative. When I left, I and another complete stranger even helped a guy who had bought a kayak tie it down in the flatbed of his truck; we all then had a nice discussion of local lakes and fishing. If you are looking for any type of outdoor gear. THIS is the REI you want to come too. And don't forget to sign up for their member shopping for deals and gaining points with every purchase to put toward reduced cost or free products. If you want even MORE rewards, sign up for the REI credit card. I highly recommend becoming an REI member so you have access to great deals and member only savings events, as well as a catalog occasionally sent to your home.

Bought the extended warranty for shoes, they said “it’s close” (meaning I’m still covered), and then they proceed to say they look “worn” (purpose of a shoe). Outcome: You need to buy new shoes, because we don’t honor our policies even if you bought the membership. Stop buying into the brand, buy at places that place customers first instead of a bottom line.
